Homeless Hava to Happy Hava
Hello,
I am new to this forum and a new owner of my Havanese. We met by accident when while visiting a friend he was at her door wanting to come in. After learning that he wasn't hers and that she was only letting him come in occasionaly to get warm and get food, I asked who he belonged to. She then told me the hearbreaking story of how his previous owners abandoned him and left him behind when they moved. He had icicles stuck to his hair and feet. He was dirty and matted, but yet was adorable. I immediately fell in love with him and knew that he was mine. I took him home and gave him a bath and tried to brush him out. 2 days later it was a trip to a groomer! Since day 1 he has been my dog. He sleeps with me, he goes everywhere with me (other than work), he greets me excited and happy when I walk in the house after work. He has my heart in his paw and he knows it. We are having trouble with potty in the house, but he is improving. Other than my husband and my children he is my world. I am astouned at how much I have grown attached to him in such a short time. I am heartbroken for what he went through after being abandoned and left in the cold and snow, however I am so happy that we found eachother. I couldn't ask for a more joyful dog to love. He is every girls dream dog! I have named him Corky and he responds well to it now. Thanks for reading and I am looking forward to reading all of your posts!
