Smile Very Proud Grandma

There was a wonderful rescue event in Cincinnati yesterday called 'My Furry Valentine' and it was held in a warehouse of the Flexi Corporation which sponsored the event. There were all-told 40 locations in the area also participating. I think this was a national event too. Wonderful event and very successful; lots of rescue organizations participating and many dogs and cats (and bunnies too) responsibly adopted out.

My granddaughter did a lot of the technical work to publicize the event and she, her husband, and her Mom and Dad (our son) worked all day at the event. This is my sweet granddaughter who pulled a puppy out of a Dumpster when she was in college and is forever hooked on dogs. She and her husband have two rescue dogs--Murphy and Typo (yup he was an accident).

My only regret is that I couldn't bring home another pet. But Alison is carrying on very nicely I think.

What a great story! I love the name typo. Cute explanation. Come to think of it, there could be a lot of children out there with the same name.

Thanks friends. There were 300 adoptable pets there and about 30 rescue organizations so very big event and lots of good press for rescue dogs. When I first went in, I noticed a pen of six gorgeous black lab puppies and when I left there was only one unadopted--hope he got a home. The heartbreaker was a sweet-as-sugar miniature dachshund who was two years old and whose owner had died. I shed a tear over that one.

There are so many heartbreaking stories in the world of rescue. It has to be thrilling to be part of the solution. Wish I could be more hands on.

Sounds as though Allison is herself, a product of "good breeding". Congratulations, Shirley . . .you should be proud.

It warms ones heart, when a family member shares a passion. What a wonderful event it takes a lot of selfless work to help pull something like that off.
