Advice please: a new puppy and listing house the same week?

I was prepared for a few rough weeks of having a new puppy, but now it looks like a move is in our future. Tell this dog novice how possible (or impossible) this is all going to be! I think it's hard alone to get a house perfect and show it daily, half as well as taking care of a brand new puppy. Trying to be optimistic, but I need to know what all is involved. (I'm a pro at the house stuff, just not the new puppy business!) Puppy arrives soon! Thanks!

I should add that I definitely don't want to get puppy started off on the wrong foot, so to speak. Want a smooth transition... We always seen to have really bad timing -- we've been waiting for a puppy for months!!

Should not be a problem if you get organized from the start. Have a crate/ex-pen setup. When the house is being shown, just make sure the puppy is in the crate. Most people love puppies. As long as you clean up right after the puppy pees/poops, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I'm a Realtor and I deal with this all the time.

Oh, pjewel, that makes me feel so much better! So glad to hear this! I'm thinking my hubby can deal with selling the house and I'll take care of puppy, lol! Sounds good to me!

You'll do just fine. As I said, keep organized from the start and it will be easier than you expect. Good luck with the house and the puppy.

Invest in some Nature's Miracle for any accidents around the house. It's an enzyme cleaner specifically for this kind of thing - takes the odor and stain out. I think regular cleaners only mask it.

No showings when you are not home. Puppy goes on leash during showings and is by your side.

Oh, I totally agree! My baby is not going to be here with strangers! He, like my human kids, will go for a ride with me or dh while house is being shown. I'd worry that someone would let him out.

Can Natures Miracle go on hardwoods? I have no carpet on main floor.

Put a piece of vinyl (linoleum) under the crate and ex-pen and cleanups will be easy. Don't let the puppy walk around on the wood floors until he's ready to get a larger area to play in.
