white spots in the ear...

He's going to the vet tomorrow, but on my weekly ear cleaning and hair tweezing, I noticed in one ear, cankersore type spots in his ear. 3 that I can see.
I don't think it's mites b/c there isn't really any discharge. it looks just like a cankersore, but no reddish border.

what type of infection is that?

edit: so I did a little homework and a cankersore is really an ulcer. I took a closer look (magnifying glass0 and I can see 4-5 inside the ear. 1 or 2 of them have the reddish border. I noticed when he was on pregnisone he had some body acne, maybe found 3 pretty good sized zits.

anyway, I'l going tomorrow to see the vet. I'll let you all know what is up.

Vet did a thorough look and cytology, and found nothing. very healthy she said. I did put 2 drops in the ear of a bacterial/yeast infection ear drops that also has a little bit of a steroid in it, to soothe the canal.

so it's possible it went away, but tonight when I got home, about 8pm, all the white spots were there. if he's on his belly, and pull the ear loe toward his body, it's very obvious, as it's on that wall you see before the canal turns (out of sight).

The vet told me to take pictures, but it's really hard to hold the lighting and camera and focus and... you get the idea. I"ll probably go back in day or two, as well as keep an eye on it. doesn't seem to bother him. the only plus.

I'd be tempted to get a second opinion.

And/or take your headlamp along to your next vet-visit. And/or get the vet to hold the ear while you take pictures.

Seriously!

I used to have a pet rabbit in the back yard. He ran loose becauuse of the fence. He got spots in his ears that turned into a fungus. The boy that I got him from told be to just put peroxide on cotton and clean real good. I did and it went away.

yeah, I got a really big practice VCA. I know all the vets, but this time I got the director, and she's good but... if I go back I will most likely get someone else.

thx.

UGH... I hate when that happens. I agree with Carol, have someone hold him and get a picture that way you'll know you have something to show the vet. Very weird though, glad it doesn't seem to be bothering him at least. I'm a "glass half full" kinda girl.
