Water bottles?

Today i was a petsmart, and i came across dog water bottles. i picked out a nice one, because they had them at the breeders and he was drinking from them there, anyways, i brought it home and clipped it to the side of his xpen, only to find it leaking out at the tip where he drinks from. Does anybody use them for there dogs, and have any tips on getting them to stop leaking, also what brand do you have and where did you get it from.

Thanks

I bought two of these from Petco 16 ounce size. I took out the turtle float water level indicator.

They leak slightly when I first attach them to Sergio's xpen. I can hear him drinking from them.

I set one up in Maccabee's expen, but Maccabee doesn't really use it. I put a bowlf water in the expen, which he drinks from, but he leo spills it. I'm not sure what he answer is.

The noise the ball at the tip makes when he drinks got on my nerves at first. Be prepared. It's nice knowing he always has fresh water and he can't tip it over. I made the mistake of putting on the wrong side of the xpen and he knocked it off while I wasn't home.

Have you held it for him to drink from like a baby bottle until he knows what it is?

I think they all tend to leak a little. I just keep a bowl underneath the spout to catch any drips.

i found that if you fill the water bottle untill it is compleaty full, put the cap on, and then squeez it untill water comes out, it stops leaking!

I bought a top paw one from petsmart. Trooper took to it right away...Katie has them in her puppy xpens, so he had a pretty good idea what it was for. If they don't take to it, you can put a little peanut butter on the tip to make them want to lick it.

As far as the leaking goes, you have to fill it up all the way, then turn it over and push on the ball til there is a vacuum established. Using room temperature water helps, since cool or warm water will expand or contract in the bottle and force a leak. We're trying the distilled water trick for his tear stains anyways, so that comes in the milk jugs style containers that make it easy to fill the bottle.

I just heard Maccabee drinking from his water bottle, so I guess he does use it. BTW, I purchased it at a feed store for about $3. It was in the rabbit section.
