Their Games, Their Rules?

I think someone may have posted this before, and I tried to search for it.

I was curious what "games" your Havanese have created, where they expect you to know their rules.

Brody's latest "game" is when he wants me to throw a toy he'll now ONLY bring me a piece of cardboard (it's from a toilet paper roll I gave him and he's unwrapped and now has it in several pieces). He expects me to throw it for him. He also expects that I can throw it across the length of the room. So he goes running ahead waiting for it to sail by. I toss it...it goes about a foot (and several feet behind where he is standing waiting). He refuses to bring me anything else. I think he thinks I'm doing it to spite him.

Henry refuses to go to bed at night without a bring-the-toy / treat-exchange.

not a game...but Jasper herds us if we don't go up to bed right at 10p. he runs upstairs and grumbles...then runs down stairs sits on the corner of the rug in the living room and stares as us, grumbles a bit, stares some more, and then runs upstairs and waits at the top of steps. Only after I and my DH have finished brushing our teeth and are in bed will he get into his bed.

Cash on the other hand, waits downstairs sprawled on the couch til he hears the middle drawer of my dresser open and I take some medication before bed, then he runs up, cause he know that next I will go to the treat jar and give the their bed time treats. The funny thing is, he does not run up if I open the closet or another draw, it has to be the middle drawer!!!

Ha ha....Brody does the bed time herding thing. I'm just in a small apartment so he doesn't have far to go, but he starts running to my bedroom door and back to me when he thinks it's bedtime. If it's the weekend or I'm busy and end up staying up late he does eventually give up and settles on the back of the couch and gives me the evil look every now and then.

Then when I am going to bed, I go into my room and then he herds me to the bathroom. If it happens that I've already brushed my teeth, etc. and don't need to go there, well I still must make the pretense of it or he gets quite upset. Then he herds me to my side of the bed and as I'm getting in he runs around to the other side of the bed where his step stool is and quickly jumps up on the bed.

Um, gosh..the chase me game, a classic. The game where she has to have her snuggle bear after a car ride, to hump it, or the other snuggle bear game where she flings it off the bed and barks at my husband to get it for her (I find this one particularly hilarious, because he can't just ignore her and say no like I do ...she won't play this game with me since I'm not a pushover!! )

The tracking game is a classic, as is the puppet game, she has 2 puppets, a wolf and a barking Christmas dog.. but those are intertwined with the chase game as i am supposed to chase her and then she attacks..haha.

I spend a lot of money on toys for Timmy and he ends up preferring toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, empty water bottles, my families socks and my tupperware go figure. Lately he's thoroughly enjoying licking my toes since I'm wearing flip flops, it's going to be a long soggy toe summer. He's pressing his luck when he tries to sneak sticks inside after our walks. Timmy's latest game is that he insists on carrying a piece of mail back to the house when we go out to get it. There wasn't any junk mail yesterday and I ended up giving him the electric bill which I told him he'd have to relinquish when we got inside.

I am curious if it is common for Havanese to throw/fling their own toys, balls, and chew sticks around when they play? My big dog never did that, and I don't remember our Maltese ever doing that.

Cassie loves the chase me game too.

Timmy will throw certain toys, mostly his stuffed squeaky ones. He threw one up on the couch the other day while I was sitting there.

Buster has been tossing toys, playing with himself since we adopted him at 5 months. it is great that he can entertain himself for a while while I am busy and Buffy is napping.
