I think so... we use the one that is the same size as the small breed puppy kong, only it is red...

I have tried using the smaller red kong. However, I put a bit of treats/kibble inside and put some apple sauce mixture on the outside frozen.

Sergio will lick the frozen part, but he's not really either motivated enough or able to get the kibble from the outside.

If I used a larger one, the kibble would come out easier, but would he be able to push it around or is the larger one too heavy? I also read somewhere that if the kong is too large, the dog's small tongue could get stuck inside.

I was using kongs for a while to occupy my dogs while I was at work. unfortunately one of my dogs has some resource guarding issues and he would take all the kongs and guard them for the rest of the day. so that's why I stopped...

anyway for my big dogs, I got the biggest round kong I could find. turns out my little guy can carry one of the big kongs and he prefers the biggest kongs, pretty funny if you ask me. it's bigger than his head.
