Are you looking to go grain-free?

I feed Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken kibble to my cats. The "Instinct" line I think is grain free, as opposed to the Prairie that includes grains. Before that, my cats and poodle ate Taste of the Wild. Both brands you mentioned are really great, it's whatever particular ingredients you are looking for! Good luck!

btw, for me, less grain = smaller poops!

Our Milo is quite picky when it comes to kibble, I have tried several brands and so far he like Blue Buffalo Freedom and Wilderness the best, Wellness Core is also another great food but Milo doesn't like it much, they are all grain-free. I have personally tasted all the kibbles I bought for him, Wellness Core have some weird and bitter aftertaste, Innova Prime beef/lamb is too dry with lots of rough grid, Blue Buffalo Freedom(for puppy) and Blue Buffalo Wilderness Duck have the best taste and texture, no wonder these are his favorite! His poop is solid and firm, no foul odor, he doesn't fart as often as when he was on other brands, and no bad breath. I supplement him with medium rare steak or fully cooked boneless/skinless chicken thigh twice a week.

I always admire those that do their home work, I think its great that you are choosing a good quality food, this is just a suggestion you may want to find out what your breeder is feeding and continue that for a few weeks while your puppy settles in and then slowly change over. The reason is going to a new home is stressful to even a grown dog, they often show stress through their tummys, as you and your puppy get to know each other be very careful with the diet in the first few weeks, this will help avoid unpleasent tummy upsets.

I heard good thing about taste of the wild too, haven't got a chance to try it, have to finish 3 bags (4lb ea) of Blue Buffalo first. If you can, get your kibble from Petsmart, keep the receipt and if you dog doesn't like the one you got you can take it back to exchange for different brand, or refund.

Wellness Core is 6 star(highest rating) food, but Milo doesn't like it, Blue Buffalo Wilderness is 5 star, but they both have similar ingredients....go figure. LOL you can check out other brand ratings here: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/

you can also look at other reviews from Amazon, or from website like this:

No experience with either brand, but my two (free feed) eat Wilderness chicken kibble and they like wellness canned.

Beth, Pixie Puff and MiG too
