Misty got bitten by a snake!

My shy Havi Princess Misty, got into a bit of trouble today, I have been sick with the flu for almost two weeks and DH is out of town so it has not been so fun for my pups. Today I thought I would try to read on the deck and let the pups get some fresh air. All seemed fine and Misty was playing with something in the leaf litter, I thought it was a lizard as she loves to chase them, they mostly get away. After a time she started to get in frenzy, the other pups ran up on the deck and watched her; I went down in time to see her engaged with a snake!!! It was a copperhead with these creepy long orange fat worms, those are babies!!! She would not leave it!!! The darn thing was coiled up and striking, she was not going to leave it, I heard her yelp and I grabbed her.

Thank heavens I was not still in my robe. I got her to the Vet 15 minutes tops, they were ready. It seems that it was a dry bite, so now she is home with antibiotics and one side of her snout very swollen, she can only eat soft for now. She will recover fully, me I will be cleaning all leaf litter from the yard, no matter how I feel.

Oh. My. God.

Poor baby.

I'm gonna have nightmares now...I'm so snake-phobic.

That's great to hear that it was only a dry bite. I hope she's feeling better.

So glad Misty will be alright! Thank goodness we don't have those - I can't abide snakes. Can't imagine the horror of discovering my Hav entangled with one. Have seen some little skinny garden type snakes slithering around on occasion.

I would have been in a total panic - you were amazing to get her to the vet so fast! I hope she heals quickly.

Is a dry bite what it sounds like - without venom?
