Laziness?

Hello!

I am curious at what age you noticed a big drop in activity??
It seems like Tillie could sleep ALL day and night if there isn't anything exciting going on...? She'll be 2 in June. Just wondering if this is somewhat normal?

That's not laziness, it's normal adult dog activity. As long as she's raring to go when there IS something going on, she's fine. With Kodi, he was just about 2 when he started to be not quite so "needy" during the day while I was working too! I think she's just growing up!

Yes Dizzie was just like that,he could sleep for Britain! He has always been a sensible pup and it's a good thing we have Nellie to liven him up a bit!Nellie is always on the go chasing the cats and trying to get Dizzie to play, sometimes she succeeds, and they have a really good RLH,but he is happy to just lie around relax, and has been since he was about 2 years old.

Yes, I think it was about then that I saw a decrease in Augie's activity level too. And I read it as him being incredibly bored with us - that we weren't exciting enough. That is when we started thinking about a second Hav. Oh, Lord, did that liven up the place!!! Counting the days until Finn gets 'bored'!! I AM JUST KIDDING! Finn does get a little more activity out of Augie than Augie would show without him though. And Augie livens up on walks and during class and when we work on training. But at other times, it does seems like he isn't all that active. I do notice a drop in Finn's activity level lately. I am finally able to take Augie outside or run and get my espresso with just locking Finn in the kitchen. For awhile, I had to crate him as he created all kinds of havoc the minute I left the room!

Oh, and our trainer has noticed a change in Augie's behavior in class too. She said he is acting much more mature and is staying focused much better. He is 3.5 now.

Wink

That is Dexter's behavior for sure! Jack is mellowing out, but still not there. It is nice to know we are in the norm of things.

Well, it looks like you're going to have to plan all sorts of activities for her!
(I would say it is normal).

Twinkle is starting to slow down too. When the others are outside barking at something, she'll go out and stand at the top of the stairs to see what they are barking at. If it's people with dogs walking by, happens a lot on our road since there is almost no traffic back in here, she'll run out and join in. If it's just a squirrel or cat or horses grazing close, she'll come back inside and lay back down. She's 15.
