The frustrating part is HOW MANY dog food brands are processed through Diamond processing plants. And they KEEP having these problems. It seems like they'd learn and clean up their act!

Karen, Kodi, Pixel and Panda
(ARCHMX Starborn Kodak Moment CGC, NTD, BN, PCD, NA, NAJ, CDX-CCH, RE, RLV, RL1X3, RL2X4, RL3X3...

I wounder how they are able to say its just that one chicken formula? Dimond manufactures so many labels one is wellness and I think they even do taste of the wiled . Wouldn't it be a risk that all the food could get contaminated?

This is the reply from customer service...I don't know why she says Taurien, folic acid and vitamin c can only come from CHINA?????? Do you???
Dear Flynn,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The only Chicken Soup product involved with the recall is the Chicken Soup Adult Dog Light formula.

The feline formulations are not involved.

Our foods are manufactured in three facilities, all in the United States. One is located in California, one in Missouri and one in South Carolina.

Most of the ingredients in Diamond Pet Foods originate in the United States. There are critical ingredients that are not available domestically in an adequate supply and with as much quality as our international supply. We do purchase some ingredients from foreign suppliers such as lamb meal from New Zealand, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium.

We screen for all toxins with a test called ToxiScreen. This test screens for other toxins besides melamine and cyanuric acid but heavy metals, pesticide residue, aflatoxin, vomitoxin, rodenticide, and many others. Should any of these contaminants be present in the sample, the ToxiScreen test will detect it.

To answer your question, there are ingredients that are critical to our formulations (i.e. folic acid, taurine, vitamin C) that can only be sourced out of China. Our choice is to either include these ingredients or manufacturer our foods without them, which would not be in the best interest of your pet, in our view.

Some pet food companies are making "China-Free" claims despite the facts I've outlined above. They accomplish this by utilizing a loophole in European law. European laws allow for ingredients purchased outside their continent, then reprocessed in Europe, to be labeled with European origin. We could likewise hide behind that loophole in the law, and tell you what you want to hear, but choose not to for obvious reasons. I'd rather you not feed our foods than to tell you they are China-free, when they are not.

Food safety is our #1 priority and it shows in the amount of new business we get from word of mouth-friends and neighbors talking to one another, recommending our foods. Our ingredients go through over 151 quality assurance checks, from the time the ingredient arrives to the end process of shipping, to ensure the safety of our products

Sincerely,

Dawn

Yes she says they are all from China? I need to find out about my vitamins!!
Dear Flynn,

We purchase those ingredients through a source in the USA; however, yes, they are originating in China.

Thanks

Dawn

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I saw this thread last week and didn't read it closely. Otherwise I would have scampered out and gotten more of Taste of the Wild dry food because we were running low. I went today and GUESS WHAT? No TOTW anywhere.

AAARRRGGGHHH! (It was a Charlie Brown moment.)

I got a small bag of Earthborn. Hopefully, it won't upset their tummies. I just know I should have gotten Orijen but they always have shipping problems. ARGH!

(Okay, I am done.)

TTFN,
Pam

So Finley comes home tomorrow and he is on the puppy formula at the breeders, I am switching him to innova but I don't want to freak his system out by a ton of changes at once any suggestions?

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Fourteen people in at least nine states have been sickened by salmonella after handling tainted dog food from a South Carolina plant that years ago produced food contaminated by toxic mold that killed dozens of dogs, federal officials said Friday.

Unbelievable!
