Oops Frontline yesterday bathed today

I applied Lucky's Frontline goo yesterday and today, given the mess of his coat-the sticks, pine sap, and mud-I impetuously gave him a bath after we came in from the rain. Was this a big mistake? Does that stuff wash off or go into his blood? Anyone have experience? Should I reapply? Thank you thank you.

It certainly won't harm him that you gave him a bath... It might be a bit less effective. I know that some of these chemicals now say you can bathe the dog the next day. The most important part is not to put it on right AFTER a bath, because it takes the oils in the dog's coat (and Havanese don't have much of that!) to help the chemical spread around.

I'm sure he'll have some protection from it anyway, but I'd keep a close watch for fleas and ticks until you can apply it again. I would NOT put it on him sooner than recommended without checking with the vet, even though you bathed him.

Maybe you should call the vet for advise on this.

We live in NH also (Bedford) and Tucker's vet changed him from Frontline to Vectra 3D because Frontline was no longer effective for ticks in our area. This may not be the case where you are in NH though, but thought I'd mention it. I did hear on the local TV station that this year so far is particularly a bad one for ticks.

I'd keep a close watch, but after a couple weeks, if you find anything, I'd reapply (after a bath) and not bathe for a few days.
