Awaiting my first Havanese

I haven't met my pup yet but I have already fallen in love through emails of his pics. Going to meet him in 3 weeks!! By that time he will be almost 6 weeks old. Im looking to train him as a visiting dog so I am hoping he has a calm nature. Any hints on what to look for?

There's something special, in my opinion, about that time when you are waiting for your pup to be big enough to come home with you. Watching them develop and mature (even if just via photos) is just awesome.

I'm about 20 minutes south of Ottawa. In 2006 my Mom was in palliative care. A wonderful woman came in with a "visiting" dog which is a type of Therapy dog. My Mom was so overjoyed to feel a dog again. It brought her such joy! I knew then that one day when my kids were grown and I was getting my next dog that I would do this too. When the pup is a year old I can take a course with him to see if we can join a visiting team at old age homes and where I really want to be in a palliative care ward

Lise, I can remember the excitement of waiting for my two. I could hardly sleep at night! Can't wait to see your new little one! Tell your breeder what you want to do and have her help you pick out a puppy with the right temperament.

Oh I did tell each breeder that I got a hold of. The one that has Ted knows. She said she will keep an eye on him as he matures. There are only 2 boys in Teds litter and I seemed drawn to him as soon as I saw his pic. I have only ever had male dogs so I prefer to stay that way.
I also waited until my Scotty passed away. We are really only a 1 dog family although some of the threads here are scaring me. Seems like Havs can become an addiction!

Yeah, they seem to be a little bit like potato chips. But I haven't caved yet!
