Cool Let sleeping Havs lie?

When we first got Beamer he would let us pick him up and put him on our laps while he wa sleeping and would not fuss.. But now when we try this he immediatly tries to get down and back back to his own spot.. Even when we go sit beside him when sleeping and just pet him, he will just get up and move farther away... lol..

I guess he just wants to be left alone while sleeping???

How do your guys react to being touched or picked up while sleeping?

There was a point where Mirabel decided that she would rather sleep at the end of the sofa instead of on me or right next to me. It could be the heat of summer. The end of the sofa is probably cooler. Maybe when winter hits she will be snuggly again.

Ha ha ha! I'm the same way. Try to move me when I'm sleeping and I'll try to get back where I was. (My daughter can testify that I've done this recently because she thought it was hilarious.)

I have one bitch that will do a short low growl if you try to move her, and then she will go back where she was. My other two bitches would rather not have me move them, but they may tolerate it. Piaget (male) will snuggle for a bit and then leaves too. I think they get too hot in the summer. I'll have to check again in the cool of winter.

Sissy loves to lay beside us - but if she gets hot she will move.
We cover her crate at night time because we have the ceiling fan on - if she gets in bed with us sometimes the fan bothers her and she will go back to her crate. I think because it's covered she feels like its her own little space.

I love your pic of Beamer and would love to see some new pics. He is such a cutie.

Kubrick will allow me to pet him for a while if he was asleep but when he's had enough he just moves his head away from me. I try not to bother him when he's sleeping though. My boyfriend doesn't care and picks him up... Kubrick will sometimes stay next to him and sometimes will go back to where he was. It seems random to me. Maybe it has to do with how tired he is at the time?

Mine do the same- they are just like human kids.
When they are babies, you can carry them around, while they sleep, and they dont care. But once they becomed toddlers, they dont want to be disturbed when they are sleeping.

My three will come up to get kisses and cuddles, maybe a good belly rub, then it's off to the other end of the couch. If I let my lab up on the couch I'm sure she would lay all of her 90lbs on my lap and never get up.

They have never growled when anyone has moved them while they are sleeping, I think I would have to growl back

Peace, Love & Havanese

Tripp wants TONS of attention all the time, but when he is ready to sleep, he wants to be left alone. If you go near him to pet him, he will get up & move. I dont think its because he is too hot either. But thats the only time he wants to be left alone.

Dreamer would love to be rubbed all day, sleeping or not.

Jax likes to be left alone when sleeping also(which is hardly ever! ) He is not a snuggler by any means, but he is starting to get more affectionate.

Kodi is pretty good about being moved or touched, but will go back to where he was. Shwelby doesn't mind if you sit next to her. In fact, she will come and snuggle up close to you, but not on you. She is usually asleep on the couch. If Kodi tries to get up there to sleep, she will growl.

My daughter and I decided to go to the park in one car. I told her she was going to hear a lot of growling from Shelby, because the back seat is her territory. Sure enough, we had 3 dogs in the front seat, and Shelby all alone in back. But, she is a very sweet dog...she just needs her space.
