jasper wants to sleep with us all of a sudden.

I need your ideas as to why this may be. Jasper (who is 6) has always preferred his bed to ours. He likes to be with us on our bed while we read, but then wants to go down.

For the past two weeks, he insists on coming back up and actually sleeps on the bed for the whole night. Cash is a better bed mate when he does sleep on the bed... he barely moves. But Jasper likes to squish between our pillows and is always moving and sighing. If we put him down... he just scratches at DH's nightstand until he moves over enough so he can jump up. We love our boys, but we actually sleep better without them in the bed.

We have been trying to figure out if anything new is going on. he has done this when there is a thunder storm. but we have had great weather.

I would hate to bring up the crates again, and I don't think they would stay downstairs since going up with us is their routine.

Oh Missy!! I know the feeling. Lily, Lexi and Logan always slept with us. But Lily always got up too early, and Lexi is just like Jasper, wants to sleep between us and never sits still!! We finally put them all back in their crates, although Gabe could not put Logan in one!! Logan is the only one that does not disturb us so Lily, Lexi and Laila all sleep in crates, with Logan in the bed.
Lately, Lexi has been giving us a hard time and wanting to sleep in bed with us. I wonder if it has anything to do with her age (7). We let her stay with us for a night or two, and then put her back in her crate and she has been good ever since.
Maybe he just needs a little more time with you for a bit. I would keep putting him down to see if he eventually settles down.
Good luck

Yeah Missy, sometimes dogs are just like humans. We never know for sure why they do things. If nothing obvious stands out , just attribute it to the fact that he wants to be with you ,LOL. I like Laurie's advice.

I think he just wants to be close to you. After Pip came, SOX gave up her place next to me in the chair when I'm reading and let Pip lay there. she'd always slept on the bed since she could get up there by herself. After giving up her chair (now her place is under it), she sleeps either between us (with her head on a pillow) or glued to one of our backs. Never did that prior.

+1 with Becky. I think he wants to be close. sleeping with you is just a bonus. but you can never know for sure.
I do have to confess, I think that if a pet wants to sleep next to you, that's a pretty big compliment, in my book.

I don't know, I can't imagine Gucci NOT wanting to be on the bed, I'd be quite baffled.

Could he be sick? Or hot?

Mine all sleep with us and always have. I think it's the highlight of their day when it's finally time for everyone to go to bed! BUT, if I had it to do all again I don't think I would have started it that way. It really is crowded! We have a row of pillows by the headboard that 2 or 3 sleep on, then usually one is curled up by one of our tummys or backs. Thank goodness we are not super tall!! In my next life I will crate train!!

Vinny, Lulu, Gabby and Richie too!

Be yourself, everyone else is taken.

Our girls have slept on the bed since the day we brought each of them home. Tasha curls up by my stomach and Molly sleeps close to mom. When I'm away from home, the thing I miss most is Tasha sleeping close to me.

Missy, if you're lucky he will give it up on his own. We have always had dogs in our bed and as we get older it seems a lot less comfortable for us! So, DH sleeps in a room with McGee and I sleep in another room with Abby. Not the best solution but it works for us. The boys are early to bed and early to rise and the girls like to stay up late and sleep late!
