Wish they all could be California Girls!

Okay I wanted to finish up with a few more shots of our cross country trip. We ended up driving on I-70 so we weren't able to do the AKC museum but it was a great trip. Yesterday, we went thru Colorado and Utah. We did a lot more hiking and Dora loved it. If you ever get a chance there is a very nice state park called Rifle Falls. Very dog friendly!!! The trails are all done out and the dogs could hike easily up to the waterfalls without me having to pick all the burrs out of the hair for hours later. Unfortunetly Arches National Park allows dogs and acts like it is dog friendly but then once you pay your $10 and get into the park, dogs are only allowed in the parking lot... Dora didn't really like that so we did a few drive up photos and left!

My girls have been absolutely amazing on this trip though! I thought it was going to be a total disaster and it has been fun for us all. They have hiked their little hearts out and yesterday, you would have thought the park was a big agility ring. Dora ran so hard and forgot every obedience command in her little brain! Then a few hours later, Dora demanded to go swimming in the Colorado River which at this point has a bit too much flow for my comfort level. I kept her on long line and she wadded thru it!

Okay on to all of you who live in California, health and danger wise, is there anything I should be careful of in LA? I can't believe I didn't think of this quicker but the girls are on revolution for flea/heart.

Welcome to California!!! I love the pics of the girls. Looks like they really enjoyed themselves. I like the one of Dora on the bench and of the 2 of them on the bed, all tuckered out. Cute!

As for specific health and dangers here in the LA area...if you're in the city it's mainly fleas, fleas, and more fleas. If you're in or near the foothill areas like we are, watch out for coyotes, an occasional mountain lion, and rattlesnakes! I have a friend who backyard butts up to wilderness, both of his Jack Russells were bit while in their enclosure. After antivenin shots and a $3000 bill, they are both fine. However, it seems neither of them learned the lesson. It's a big enough problem, our local parks and recreation dept. offers a training class for dogs to help them learn the danger of rattlesnakes.

Let me know if I can help you with anything while you're settling in.

Fabulous pictures, Amanda! I'm glad you all made it across the country safely and with some wonderful sightseeing to go with it. We just made the I-70 trip from Colorado, through Utah and boring Nevada to get home, although you probably hit the Southern route going through/near Vegas, didn't you when we went North through Reno.

Welcome to California! The distance is probably making it hard to see, but I'm waving from up here.
