Sad.

This isn't really Havanese related but I needed to share...

I almost got a puppy. I always browse the pet section in my local online classifieds and I found someone who was trying to find homes for a litter of Olde English Bulldog mix puppies.... I stupidly asked for pictures, even though my brain was screaming "NOO!"
There was a little brindle one with a white blaze on her nose. She had the cutest little gremlin face. She was probably the ugliest puppy I've ever seen and I fell in love.
Before I could stop myself, I said I'd take her....
They were only a couple of weeks old so I had to wait until she was ready. The past couple of days I've been nervous and second guessing myself about it, but I would look at her picture and sigh.
Anyway, today the lady who rescued the mom and puppies called me and told me that the mom must have accidently smothered the puppy I wanted.
She told me I could pick out another but I said no. I really didn't need another dog right now anyway...

I'm sad though. Poor little thing.

Oh my gosh how tragic!! I am so sorry to hear this!!

I THINK I want another puppy, but the reality is TOTALLY different. Besides Tillie isn't CRAZY about other dogs, so I think it would be VERY stressful for all of us. I am already stretched thin with my 2 kids, working, taking care of the house, cooking, shopping, Tillie (and all her needs, cooking her food, making her supplement mix, grooming, classes, on-going training, etc) ... ya I don't think there is enough of ME for another puppy. not for a very, very long time... sigh.

oh and I DO have a husband LOL), but, well, not only is he Russian (very traditional ideas of who does what in the house) BUT he works a LOT (is working right now though from home- he's a computer tech) so he really doesn't help AT all with day to day care of everything and everyone.

That is sad. I know how it is when you see a pup and your heart just says thats THE one! Now until you are ready for another dog-- no more looking at the classifieds!! ( that is too tempting). Hugs. Cheryl

so sad, but these things happen. Question; were they charging you for the pup? This is a common ploy by unscrupulous breeders to say they are "rescuing" the pups but they are actually doing unethical backyard breeding (or worse puppy mills) for profit and selling to unknowing people who think they are rescuing a dog. Just a warning.

Hopefully you will find another pup that was meant to be yours. Sad having your heart broken like that. So sorry for you.

No, this lady is involved in rescue (we've worked together with transports before) and she took in a neglected Olde English Bulldog who was pregnant. There was only a $25 adoption fee with a spay and neuter contract.

Anyway, I really don't need another dog. Even though I want one really bad.... Jasper LOVES to play with other dogs and he tries to play with Rocky all the time, but Rocky just growls and lays there.
Plus, I'd really like a larger dog to go on walks with me in the morning. Rocky has some joint problems and he's always been kind of lazy, and Jasper doesn't care for walks (plus he's not very intimidating...lol).
Three dogs would be too much though. I've got 2 small children and a full time job. *sigh*
