Backpack suggestions?

I'm in the market for a backpack. I have a great Sherpa bag for travel, so that's not a concern. I just want something to wear while on long walks, cross country skiing, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can you use a regular Jansport pack? The dog specific ones I've seen on the net don't seem very well designed for outdoor activities.

Still need help PLEASE

I hope to be getting a special needs Hav senior rescue soon, and having a backpack or front facing pack will be critical. He is supposed to be 18 lbs. My Internet searches are not conclusive, and it would really help to know what your Havanese use!

18 lbs seems a bit big for a back pack or carrier ... how old is he?

I think a stroller might be a better idea, they have lots for reasonable prices on Amazon.com

hope that helps!

If you just want a day pack to carry stuff on walks, you know vs. the serious, 'I'm camping for 5 days with this backpack' with the chest clip, the hiker's backpack. I always checkout rei.com outletpage first. I ride motorcycles, and some times I have to take a backpack. and I was forced on a couple of hiking and camping trips in my younger days. just make sure you adjust the straps correctly, you'll be fine. jansport is a good brand, but there are so many to chose from it's really more about functionality for you and style.

Have you looked at celltei.com? I have no interest in the company but have heard good reviews. They are pricey but look like they have many features other bags backpack don't have. For ex. Place for water bottle. Another is the pet gear I-go2 but they are bulky and may not be comfortable for long excursions. Let us know what you buy with an update on how it works for you. Cheryl

I bet if you got some snow shoes your new havanese would love to just cross country with you I would see if you could just order a good one and see how it feels. I had one but I always felt like I need to still hold the bottom. Its in my car I'll try to remember to look at the brand. It was bought for a Berniese mt. dog puppy.
