Cool Very peculiar behavior.

Last night we put Toby in his crate and then we went out to dinner. He's hardly in his crate any more, but we still put him in when we are out for awhile. Well, when we came back and we were all relaxing on the couch, including Toby, he jumped off and ran upstairs. I thought he was going to hang out with my son. A couple minutes later Toby comes back downstairs carrying the mat that we use to cushion his crate with! Now, this thing is twice his size, and is the thick foam kind so it's rigid. I was shocked he was able to manage it. We thought he really liked it and wanted to lay on it, but then he went crazy biting at it and pulling on it. After a few minutes of this I gave him his toy instead and then put the mat back in the crate. Five minutes later, Toby is upstairs again and dragged the thing back down and the same thing again. I have no idea what he's trying to tell me. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their dog? He's never torn anything apart or seemed interested in anything besides his plush toys. I'm very perplexed.

Thanks! And, of course. It's covered in a pretty durable cover, and he wasn't able to put any holes in it. He hasn't touched it today at all. Maybe he was saying that he did not appreciate being left behind in his crate.

I think perhaps it was his "evil twin." you know what they say...be careful what you name your pet. I wish you got it on video.

Me too! Funny thing is that he was putting on a show for us. The evil twin thing is something my friend came up with. She just adores Toby. So whenever I tell her a naughty Toby story she says that it was his evil twin who did it because Toby can do no wrong. We all know that's not true.

Sounds to me that he was just showing his disgust at being left alone in his crate. Smart puppy!
