1st camping trip of the year

Here are some pics of our first trip this year. As you can see we all chill out especially Ruffles. Gorgeous weather, mid to high 70's all weekend and a little chilly at night. And now that Ruffles is nice and dirty from the weekend, it's time for a visit to the groomers.

We are in our travel trailer as I write this, in upstate NY. We spent the weekend dry camping at the Monadnock Humane Society APDT Rally Trial, in NH, and Stopped here on the way to the Finger Lakes, further west in NY.

The weather isn't supposed to be all that good this week, but we'll have fun anyway. Poor Kodi has already needed a couple of foot and belly baths to get him clean enough to let loose in the trailer. But he seems to feel that the benefits of camping outweigh the indignities... He's snuggled down in the bed between Dave and me right now, with NO CAT the chase him out!

Ruffles had a few foot baths this weekend as well. Her tail picks up every little leaf and whatnot too.

That's great, you'll love it. We used to tent camp but my wife hated it. She wanted 4 hard walls between her and the critters outside so we moved over to a travel trailer.

That mat is just a camping mat. You can get them at Walmart or any camping/RV store. We bought that one at the campground store at this campground a few years ago.

Yes, Get them groomed after the trip not before.

You would be surprised how affordable trailers are. Even a pop-up would get you off the ground. Check out Craig's List. It's free to look. With a bad back and knees it would be worth it to get off the ground. If you have a pick-up, they also have tents that are designed to fit in the bed of the truck. There are many inexpensive options. Believe me we aren't rich either.

We used to camp. Started out with a very small used trailer and kept moving up about every second year, still buying used but getting bigger trailers in size until we got the size we wanted. Once you put out for the first trailer, you always have a trade in or one to sell, so the expense of moving up is not all that bad. I too needed the 4 walls. We quit once our 2 girls grew up and wanted to work but missed it so bad, we compromised and bought a house on a river. Now its like camping every day!
