How did I get so lucky!?!?!?

So, today is two weeks with my Teddy boy! He had a few accidents the first week on some of my rugs. Now, this second week he is completely bell trained! When I let him out of the xpen, I play with him for a minute to see what he does and he goes right over and rings the bell and goes outside to potty. He uses the wee pad in the xpen overnight. I tested him today around the rug he had been peed on in the past, which is by the front door (no bells), and he went to the front door and cried a tiny bit to be let out (he was never even trained to the front door).

Also, he doesn't bark or get over excited when I come home, he's so calm and independent, playing with all his toys. In fact, I havent heard him bark at all. Just a slight whine or grr when I get home and he wants out of the xpen or he wants something, up or down off the couch.

No chewing on the wrong thing, so far, either.

So, I am thinking I got pretty lucky with my pick of the litter! He's just been amazing. The only thing I feel badly about is that I have to leave him for work, but he has a lunch time walker.

One question though, I am going out of town fourth of july week and planning to leave him with my mom. She has a hav and a cock-a-poo, who are both pretty barky sometimes. Will my pup learn that being over there for a week?

He's doomed. LOL It's possible to pick up some bad habits from other dogs. Introduce them for a short period at first, if possible , rather than all at once sort of speak. Sounds like he's doing well. Good for you.

You're very lucky to have such a bright boy. Don't be disappointed though if he develops a few mischievous behaviors as he starts growing up.

There will probably be a few changes in him when you come back from your week away but you should be able to get him back on your routine after you get him back.

Lucky you what a smart little Bear. Zoey loves the bell but she just wants treats! So I use it like a dinner bell when its time for her to come in from playing.

Your dear little Teddy might learn to bark whilst at your Mum's house, but hopefully he will not do when he is back in his own home. Also some Havs don't bark much until they are a bit older. Our Dizzie didn't start until we brought his half sister Nellie home,it was as if he was or is protecting his girl!

Yeah Teddy! Another bell ringer.
Teddy will eventually find his voice weather he goes to your moms or not. Its how they talk. You just want to be able to teach him when it appropriate and when its enough.

My dog is not spoiled I'm just well trained.

I was thinking the same thing. I remember congratulating myself on having raised such a quiet, well-behaved, non-barky puppy. Kodi rarely made a peep.

...THEN adolescence hit, he found his voice, and for the next 9 MONTHS, he drove me out of my MIND with demand barking!

The good news is that he did eventually learn to use his voice appropriately.

Just like a teenager! Demand barking. I sure hope Charly doesn't start that stuff. Ill have to ground her or take away the car!
