4th of July

Wel, Django and I spent the 4th in my closet listening to Sting for about an hour. He did great. Couldn't hear a thing but of course, as soon as we got out of the closet the neighbor kids started up with their fireworks. He was shaking all night long, found him sleeping under my pillow. He's pooped and recovering today!

Poor little thing Benny did OK... I was worried since I know dogs can be scared of fireworks. My husband and 3 boys set off their fair share late into the night. I went to bed (with the dog)

Django looks so cute, even if he is exhausted. My guys did really well. This was their first 4th of July. A little restless walking around the house, and some barking at the really loud stuff, but they went to bed just fine and seem great today. So refreshing after my last dog. My Doberman Max had a routine that he never wavered from: 1) retreat to the tub; 2)after that didn't stop the noise, try to hide under the bed. In actuality, this was just his head under the bed, with his body shaking on the floor and finally 3) he would try to make me wear him as a hat. Literally would try to climb on my head.

It is really stressful when our pets are afraid of fireworks or thunder. My shih tzu was so restless during thunder storms he made my Lhasa a wreck also. I use to turn the music up loud all night, he use to just run back and forth shaking and whimpering, after he passed away, I have found the Lhasa is not scared at all. My guys are not bother at all these days, but I will never forget those stressful years and how bad I felt not being able to change their behavior. I feel for everyone who had a stressful 4th.

Poohkey miss you, monkey.

dango is so adorable!!! sorry he had a bad night. We felt so guilty, we actually went out and I can't tell you how many times I said 'poor Jasper' he must be shaking. when we got home though he seemed just fine. Cash was panting a bit. It's so hard. cause I love 4th of July but I worry about the boys.

I cancelled plans to go out on the 4th because I was so concerned that Isabelle would be frightened. Fortunately she wasn't bothered a bit. Here is a picture of her sleeping through the festivities.

So far, I've been lucky. Beau seems to regard thunderstorms as just an annoyance -- he uses a low growl, as if he's warning the storm to go away. But then, I have yet to find anything that scares him!! He is certain that he is one of the BIG BOYS.

it's my big girl Kara, the anatolian, that has always been scared of loud sounds. unfortunately, in my neighborhood, the 4th starts on the 1st and ends on the 6th or there abouts. she stopped eating and just today started to eat again. when she's anxious she hangs out in my bedroom, and pants (sp?), really loud, throught the nite. the last 8 yrs I've stayed home on the fourth for her. when I had my other big anatolian, she used to just about sit on top of him for comfort, lol! the little guy Ollie, unphased by loud noises, so is my boy anatolian, although Oz, the boy anatolian, likes to chase the earthquakes out of the yard, it's pretty funny.
