Flirt poles: Not just for bullies!

Ok, so now that I have Buttercup the big bully, I've had to find ways to exercise her. So I made her a flirt pole. FUN! She has a blast and it really wears her out.
So.... I got to thinking, why can't Jasper have some fun?

All it took was an old wooden bird perch (about 2 foot long), a piece of thick yarn (about 3 foot), and a little dog toy. He loves it! He chases it around just like Buttercup does. He jumps in the air, grabs it and shakes it. It's so funny. It's small enough that we can play inside too (not so with the big bully).

It's so fun! Like a giant cat toy for dogs. They are super easy to make. I think everyone should try it.

Louis LOVES cat toys. I get the ones with the feathers on the end of a long stick. He jumps, flips, twirls, and goes crazy. He's so out of breath after the play session. He has a tendency to get greedy with his catch - at first he'd latch onto the toy really hard and NOT let go. If other people try to get it out of his mouth, he would growl. Now, I let him catch it to indicate the end of the play session, and he anticipates a treat so he lets go before I even give him the treat.

Timmy loves cat toys too, probably more then my cats do. I have the plastic ring track with a ball inside and he goes to town on that. He played more with that then my cats ever did. He also likes the crinkly balls and once I found him with one of their little mice in his mouth. All my cat toys are in a basket in another room and he can only get them with I am in there with him some are pretty small.

One of my cats was licking his Himalayan chew the other day I was cracking up. Timmy was not too happy about that he doesn't know how to share.

If you are not handy enough to make your own, Amazon sells one.

It's less than $15 and comes with two different animals to chase. Piper loves it!

Kodi LOVES his flirt pole, and it's a great way to burn off excess energy indoors in the winter. (probably wouldn't work as well with a Bulldogge!)

For those with horses, my first one was a longe whip with a toy tied to the end of the lash. But it was awfully long. Then I switched to a buggy whip, which was a better length, but still a bit heavy. Now I have a commercially made one. It was under $15, and came with a second toy to switch out on the end, so it was a pretty good deal.
