Seasoned Show Veterans???

Next week we are entered in show held in an outdoor venue and the long range forecast predicts rain. Is it frowned on to dress for the weather? A raincoat and gum boots would be my preferred attire but would that be terribly uncouth?

I'm not too worried about keeping the dogs dry for Rally but I have a conformation sanction match right after Rally and I am wondering if it does rain as much as predicted if I would be expected to pull from the class because of a wet dog. I know in the past when I attended outdoor rainy venues all the conformation dogs were kept dry and groomed and the handlers were still out there in dresses and suits in the pouring rain.

Who's got advise for me to make the best of a rainy day.

No idea, but I'll be interested in the responses! Here in the unpredictable North East, I'll stick to indoor venues!

From the lack of responses I think maybe everyone has only indoor experiences. Maybe we in The Great White North are the only ones crazy enough to support outdoor shows. Surprisingly there are a lot of entries.

What ever you wear you just don't want to distract from your dog. I've been told to look at what the judge is wearing. If its a really hot day and the judge has a suit coat on then you should have one on. That was just the advice of my trainer don't know if its what others would say.

Better if you can bring things to dry the dog. Don't worry about what you are wearing, keep yourself dry. The judge is supposed to judge the dog, not you. A match is a practice, so you should only care that your dog is happy and performs well. Placements don't matter. Oh, back in the '80s, I remember being at a points show and a handler I knew forgot to bring a raincoat and wore a trash bag in the ring. She had the best dog and it won.
