Lixit bottle -- enough water?

Our puppy is coming home with us in two weeks! At the breeder's home, he is drinking water from a Lixit water bottle. I think it would be nice to keep him drinking from one; I'm hoping that it will cut down on spillage and on the water dripping off his facial hair.

I have been reading many threads here, and have seen a few options for stands to hold the bottle. My question is: Will he get enough water from it as his only indoor water source? We will have a bowl for him outside for when we play in the yard.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I have wondered this myself. I really hate the wet dripping hair after drinking. I dont want to cut his hair though. Hopefully someone will chime in that has had experience.

We have the 32 oz Lixit glass water bottle on a stand. Our 3 dogs seem to get enough water from it. They can drink anytime they want. We fill it at least once a day and check to see that there is water in it at all times. I love that it keeps their faces from getting all wet.

Yep, it's plenty. They come in different sizes and have different spout sizes. Once Trooper started taking forever long drinks (when it was forever long every single time, not just when really really thirsty), I went and bought a bigger one with a bigger spout thing. Works really well.

Trooper is a Moptop boy! If only I could think up a registered name...

I too use the Lixit bottles for all 4 of my guys! There are many times when they just lick and lick and lick and lick - but they all seem to get enough and we have never had a problem. When we are outside, and the door is closed, I do have a water bowl for them outside.
I really know what the size is - sorry Flynn.
I just love the fact that I can hug my guys without getting soaked!

Thanks for all the replies. I hope someone who knows the "right" size will chime in. I'm going to visit my puppy tomorrow (he's six weeks old!) and will ask the breeder for her opinion then.

He'll get plenty of water fromthe bottle. If he has alot of white around the mouth, because it isn't wet from drinking from a bowl, it is less likely to stain. Make sure the bowl you will have outside is stainless steel.

32 oz size is the right size. It holds four 8 oz. cups of water and I believe it is the largest. I just ordered a new one from the Lixit web site.
