Smile Waiting.....

Hello, I am new to this forum. I joined because I am adopting a Havanese Puppy and I want to learn and understand what it takes to be a successful dog owner.

Hi there, Louella. You will learn a lot, for sure, maybe even from me. I've only had my puppy for a little more than two months, but I can tell you about all of my mistakes. :-) Anyway, my puppy, Benjamin, is a complete joy, and getting him was one of the best decisions of my life!

Do you already have a puppy picked out? When are you gettin him or her? We want to know all about it!

Hi: thanks for the reply. I will be able to bring my puppy home in about three months. Puppy hasn't been born yet and then she will stay with Mum for about 8 - 10 weeks.
What kind of mistakes did you make? I am starting for square one so I could use some advice. thanks

Welcome to the forum. Do what I did and read the previous threads. On the forum keep an eye out for pups that are coming home about the same time as yours. Its great to have some pals that are going thru the same things at the same time. Havanese are amazing dogs and very smart. Mine has and is outsmarting me all the time I think your first mistakes will be thinking you won't make any. We all do, but between the others on the forum that have been through all this and reading material and making sure you find a good training facility to start your baby at. Look up the equipment we have for our babies. Crates, ex pens, toys, grooming equipment, food, treats........and where you want your puppy to do his business(outside and or inside) Happy reading. It will make the time pass quicker!
