HRI Annual Online Auction

Hi gang

I'm happy to announce that the 12th annual online auction to benefit Havanese Rescue Inc will run from Saturday, Nov 3rd through Saturday, Nov 10th. Yep, I'm announcing a little early so we can get a jump-start and everyone will have plenty of time to plan their donations (if indeed you're so inclined), especially those who are hand-crafting items or who'll be soliciting from vendors.

Now, I'm sure there are many folks reading this message who are wondering "who is this chick and what's up with this auction". Well, the loves of my life are my parti-boy Shadow Ray, 13 years old, and Kidget Marie, my 12 year old baby girl, around whom the world revolves (just ask her). They were the inspiration for the first online auction in 2001. Shad and Kiddy still patiently watch tv, send text messages, or snooze nearby while Mommy is busy auctioneering for the Neezers for whom the HRI volunteers are helping to find forever homes.

What was meant to be a one-time "let's try it and see what happens" event has become a yearly tradition and I believe was the first of its kind for our breed. Over the years, we have raised over $88,800 for the darlings of HRI and have had quite a few laughs and tears along the way. It is a total labor of love and every penny raised goes to HRI. If you've never participated, we hope you'll join us this year, whether as a donor or bidder, because we cannot do it without the support of the Havanese community.

The auction site homepage is up and I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes to read the FAQs which explain how the event is run and how you can participate.

Feel free share this announcement with family and friends, on your Facebook page and whatever groups you belong to - the more, the better : )
Don't hesitate to drop me a line if you have any questions!

Thanks, everyone.

Hi Laura,

I've never participated before so forgive me if this is a stupid question. Are the items to be donated put together like a tricky tray (ie gift basket/box) or are they larger single items?

Thanks.

HRI Online Auction

Hi Julie

There are no stupid questions!LOL How the items are posted on the website is entirely up to the donors. Some people prefer that each item be listed separately, others like to package them up in a box or basket and auction them as one item, and still others leave it to me to decide. If you want to take a peek at a previous auction, you can see the variety of items we had - some auctioned as single items and others, like Item 42, presented in a gift basket.

Also, since you will be responsible for sending the item(s) to the donor(s), you don't want to buy anything that is so bulky or heavy that it will be difficult or costly to ship. Another option is to purchase an item online and have the seller ship it directly to the winner. If you have any other questions, don't be afraid to ask
