So proud of my little Ollie

So, I am a speech therapist in the public schools and I went in to work today (for free) to tie up some loose ends before school officially starts tomorrow for me.

Of course I brought my trusty 1/2 hav certified therapy dog with me. I ended working a full day as there were more loose ends to take care of. and Ollie came with me as I went to multiple offices, purchasing, shipping and receiving, the district office, and I ran into colleagues and a lot of higher ups.
people that I know, but they don't know me. you know, ppl that answer to the superintendent.

everywhere we went, Ollie would bust out a few tricks (wave hello, count - pick a number b/t 1-20, high ten, shake, jump) or we'd explain how I use him instructionally for special needs students. anyway, we have an attorney for special ed. she spends a lot of time with us and she was a parent at my elementary school. she was in between mtgs, and so I introduced her to ollie, and we only had time to show her the counting trick... she was blown away.

a couple of hours later, she emerges for air from a mediation hearing and I didn't know who the white haired guy was, but she introduced me, and asked me to show the judge, ollie's counting trick. I apologized and said I was out of treats and he doesn't work for free, but ollie did it. he also did tricks for the asst. superintendent and countless others today.

I'm proud of my little cutie pie!

WTG Ollie. I'm thinking of getting one of mine certified therapy dog. Before I retired from teaching high school and at the end of the day was going to be leaving for a dog show, often the dog I was taking would come with me to school for the day. The dogs always enjoyed it and the kids too. Surprisingly, to me, he/she didn't distract them from learning if I let them greet the dog for a couple minutes at the beginning of class.

I agree Becky, dogs and be easily integrated into a classroom setting.

If I didn't ride a motorcycle, I'd bring him more than once a week, but there is more of a hassle, with taking them to pee and what not. Ollie is pretty much a rock star at my school.
