I'm back and I brought something fun for you!

So, it's been a while since I've written anything here. After my trip to Israel and Paris, I have been busy moving my parents close to me (they lived in California) and getting them settled. This has taken a significant amount of time, arranging movers, taking them to new doctors, etc. Also, my bonus son and his family was visiting from Israel for 2 1/2 weeks. But, the biggest news yet is Ume. At Momo's day care, the owner mentioned that there was a Havanese rescue dog by the local Westie rescue group. After jumping through hoops: 3 personal recommendations, a call to the vet, and a home visit I was finally allowed to see him. I hadn't wanted a puppy, but, I'm glad I did it. He is a white with black markings (I don't know enough to know sable or pied or whatever). The breeder, from what I understand, gave him up to her vet because he has an overbite. So, he has a slight overbite, as well as pigment loss around his right eye. Ume (pronounced like you-may, without the "y" in front) is quite the character. He's very friendly, basically he's never met a stranger. First thing he does is lie on his back when he meets someone. Anyway, I missed everyone and here are some pictures.

Welcome back and I love what you brought back with you. What a cutie pie! I love that picture of him standing looking out the car window.

What does Momo think of these new developments?

Luckily, for the most part, Momo enjoys him. Although, when he pulls her tail and ears or she's had enough, she extracts herself and moves away from him, usually out of reach. Otherwise, they play and wrestle when they aren't resting from all of that.

Evelyn,

I'm at a loss as to why also. An overbite or even pigment loss can still be sold as a pet quality dog so why give him up? It makes no sense to me.

He's adorable! I love his face, it's so smoochable.

We, too, have an Ume (oo'-may) but she's a Brussels Griffon rescue. It sounds like Momo is adapting to her new housemate faster than our Pepper did. It took him a full two months before he even considered playing with our Ume!

I like your Japanese fruit theme. We weren't sure if we were going to call her Ume (plum) or Nashi (pear).
