Hello all and Happy Saturday to you!
WOW, is the only way I can think to start this thread. Well that and I hope I'm not boring anyone ...
So, Saturdays I try really hard to get Tillie out and about since weekdays she doesn't get out much these days. I was blessed to get to go ALONE with her, as my husband took the kids to the river trail for a bike ride! woot!
Anywho, we started out at Pet Smart, not too exciting today for some reason. So we left after a bit and went shopping
I went to a little shopping center that has a couple clothes stores and a Raleys as I needed to get a few groceries and didn't want to haul the stroller in and out of the car too many times.
Well, as I was on my way from the 'fun' stores to the grocery store I came across the "reason" why I wasn't to do the big therapy workshop day TODAY.
A very, little old lady, with only a few teeth, in her pajamas, with a hospital bracelet still on her wrist. No idea why she was out alone in this heat....
Anyway, she of course noticed Tillie right away so I unzipped the stroller and the lady was all over her. cooing and clumsily stroking her, even at one point grabbing her muzzle ... Tillie took it all in stride. I took Tillie out of the stroller and we sat on a nearby bench. For almost an hour. After the initial licking and loving, Tillie settled down between us as the lady continued to stroke her and she proceeded to tell me all about the animals she had throughout her life and that she can't have any now because she lives in an apartment. She told me about her 6 kids and about thier lives.
I had a hard time not crying, honestly. THIS is why we didn't do this particular training day with the organization. This lady needed Tillie. and we were right where we were suppose to be.
And the whole time I kept thinking of everyone words here on the forum about how we don't have to be certified, that Tillie can bring joy where ever she is to those around her. and how right you all were.
Now, I know I made the right decision to wait... her name was Dorris.
