Car sick dog

Benny gets car sick all the time. He is 7 months old and I am hoping he outgrows this. Any suggestions?

Dexter was terrible with car sickness, he did out grow it, but it took awhile. I feel for you, always have that towel ready in the car because you know what is coming.

Kallie doesn't throw up anymore, but she needs a bucket under her chin to catch the gallon of drool!!! She's a little over 5 months.

Sawyer was really bad too! When we hit the 15 minute in the car mark he would puke...multiple times. I took him on a 5 hour car ride when he was about 6 months old and he only puked once each way. And the last time I took the same trip (he is now 12 months) he didn't puke at all either way! So I thought we were in the clear...but a week later on a 20 minute ride he puked. So I have no idea if it is over or not, but it is definitely better than it was.

Things I tried...rescue remedy pet formula, thundershirt, benadryl. I dont think any of those had a major impact.

My Mom's hav, Bacca, bets carsick. We give him a 1/2 a bonine an hour or 2 before we get in the car to go somewhere. It helps!

Quincy gets carsick sometimes too. Lately he seems a little better, but he still doesn't like it much. I am hoping he grows out of it. He is better than he was just a month ago, so that's a start He's five months old.

I haven't taken Benny on any long rides, just around town, but those are the worst rides in terms of stops and starts and curves.

I've been doing the short car rides like when I have to go to the bank or to places where I can take him in with me. I have lengthened the time we are out a little at a time. Funny thing is that he only gets sick if he's riding in his car seat. If hubby is driving and he's on my lap, he's fine. Go figure.
