How much wet food?

I feel so math challenged by how much wet food we should give Lucky now that we've basically switched from Kibble (he is nine months and was having lots of trouble with dry only food). Lucky weighs 18 pounds The instructions say 6 to 8 oz of wet food for every 5 pounds of body weight every day (also says 6 oz of wet = 1/2 cup dry but that does't make much sense at least to me if the wet to weight proportions are right). SOOOO does an 18 pound dog get 21 oz of wet food a day?? Seems a lot but if I thought about 8 oz food per 5 pounds, he'd even get 27 oz of food. Seems an awful lot but it's clear Lucky will happily eat that much (and he hasn't been one to eat more than he wants at least of dry food-he's wild about the wet)>

Any wet food feeders out there who can tell me how much their puppies weigh and how much food they get? This is puppy wet food so maybe it's more than for adults and maybe it's mostly water anyways?? You can see I'm confused.

Thanks for guidance.

I am on canned. You need to talk with Sabine maybe. She needs more info though. Every dog is different. Here's her email if you would like to contact her. Very reasonable. [email protected] Do you think he is at an ideal weight. ?

Thanks Dave. I'll try Sabine (?). Yes, he seems at a perfect weight although the breeder had predicted he'd end up at 20 pounds. He's held at 18 now for a while and is lean and active. His breeder actually visited her "big boy" last week and said he was perfect. Do you feel the need for any kibble with your pups? I have noticed Lucky chewing more (active teething again it seems) since he's been on the wet food and I was thinking maybe the need to chew was satisfied some by the kibble. I've introduced it as a treat in Kongs which he seems to enjoy. He is so much happier on wet food. Was so relieved to see that a grand master like you feed it to your dogs too.
