Thanks for the heads up Sally.

Here's a link to further info:

I've practically switched to feeding Hank human grade food primarily for this reason.

Here we go again ..
Well if they are still having problems with people food - Dole has a another recallwhy should I be suprised that they are finding salmonella & listeria in pet food ..
This is why i would not consider feeding my dog raw food even when it was touted as the best & maybe the only way to go ..
You just have to consider your sources...
They do so much to focus on the Drugs but nothing seems to get done about the most important sources - our food and water .. I guess they do not have a very strong lobby ..
It will be interesting to see what people decide to When they have heard enough about food and pet food recalls .
My dogs eat the same quality food that we do but we are a small family and can afford it . Most people cannot do this and everyday the risks seem to increase and get worse . This is just not right ..
It is time they stopped selling junk and bacteria tainted food to our pets ..
I never once heard about a food recall when I was in Europe . Then maybe they do not care .. Another story ..
I did see on the news that even the Chinese are very cautious about the foods they buy and constantly worry about the possibility of receiving tainted foods and deceptive food sources .
If I am not wrong I wrote the same thing about this problem not too long ago ..
Thank you again for the information and keeping us in the loop ..

It is frustrating, isn't it?

I finally threw in the towel when the Chicken Jerky got recalled. Sadly, its not just the food from China that is questionable.

Heck, I don't even feel like I can trust the companies that claim to use "human quality".....NOBODY is monitering these companies. They can say whatever they want. They have noone to answer to. It could be a big scam for all I know and they could be buying the same crap that is swept off the floor...or from rendering plants.

Gucci is doing SO much better, and I personally don't think it cost that much to homecook. Granted, it might be different if I had several dogs, but right now, its just a few dollars here and there.

I hope that all these recalls bring enough attention to the industry and someone moves in and fixes the problem. We shouldn't have to worry that we are killing our pets.

Yikes, I just went to the web site on the recalls and found my "picky" puppy's Natural Balance canned food on the list! The problem is, it doesn't say which has been reformulated and which hasn't. If it is recalled, what is it doing on the shelf at PetCo??
I would switch to all people food but my hubby and I usually just eat salads or things that the dogs don't like and I don't exactly want to cook special for the dogs......it was bad enough doing that as the kids grew up, haha. However, I do have a yellow lab that will race anyone to a tomato and have it eated before you get there!

I don't feed Maddie Natural Balance, but I believe the recalls are old. They are supposed to be testing their food now and you can check that your food is safe by putting in the batch number on their website.

That being said, I try to avoid any food that uses ingredients that come from China or are processed in China.

Sally- I've had Maddie on Canidae and Innova, but she started scratching and having some loose stools. Its either an allergy to one of the multiple protein sources (chicken, turkey, etc.) or they are too rich for her. I've put her on Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken (lamb and rice) since it has a single protein source, and her stools cleared up and her scratching is much less. Also, she LOVES it! She can't wait until the next meal. I've also heard good things about Solid Gold Wee Bits (which is Bison and fish), but she's doing well on the Hund-n-Flocken, so that's fine.

What does Oliver eat?
