Smile California Boy

It's not just us humans who are spoiled by the fabulous SF Bay area weather, it looks like our furbabies are equally spoiled.

We had unexpected showers yesterday and Benji was not a happy camper. He hates anything wet and cold under his little paws. He reluctantly went out to do his business but patiently waited for me to wipe his paws and dry him out when he got inside.

This morning we got a break from the showers and cloudy skies. Benji ran out the door to enjoy the warmth and sunshine. A California Boy indeed!

Best, Poornima

As much as poor Benji didn't enjoy the rain, I'm sure that the rest of California did since they're going through such a bad drought! At least he lets you dry him out when he gets back inside! Kubrick just wants to run around and get everything else wet along with him.

I hope the weather is nice in SF this week. My son is there on business.
Shelby doesn't mind the rain, unless it is pouring. Kodi does mind, but will go out if I go too.

Took both of mine for a walk in the rain yesterday. I think it may have been the first time that Roxie has seen rain. They were troopers during the walk, but Roxie was shivering when we got back. It sure made them appreciate their Saturday morning shower. Roxie just sat there with the warm water pooring over her back. She decided that she likes the warm water falling from above better than the cold.

I wish Pepper was more of a California Boy. He ran out first thing yesterday morning, into a light rain, and got rolled in a muddy puddle while wrestling with one of the big dogs. The cold wind must've amped him up because he was a little terror when we came inside. He was racing through the house, tracking dirt everywhere before I could catch him and clean him off.

Poornima, I know what you mean. Maddie looked at me yesterday like "You expect me to go out in this?" It was just a light rain. But she did go out and quickly did her business. I'm not sure she's ever really been in the rain much. With fall and winter coming up, she'll have to get used to it.

By the way, I love the new picture of Benji in your signature.

Biscuit was very confused by the rainy weather here in Marin yesterday. We actually had a thunder storm the night before, but he didn't make a peep. We got him last New Year's Eve, so he saw a lot of rainy days as a young puppy, but has forgotten it, I guess.

HAV A GREAT DAY ! ~~AMY & BISCUIT~~

Lina, I agree that we all are hoping to have better rains this year....whether Benji like it or not (of course I am dreading the thought of him not wanting to go outside).

Michele, it was too funny to see Benji peek through the doggy door as I went outside in the yard. He gave me a look as if to say "Mom, you are nuts to go out, don't expect me to follow you". He stood at the French doors watching me outside. I tried to take him on the leash but he plonked himself on the ground firmly, I had to carry him to a dry spot.

Cheryl, I know what you mean by warm water. Benji Loves it. I always wash his paws when he gets back from his morning walk. If the water is slightly cool, he fidgets and tries to get out of the sink.

Wanda, I am so glad that Benji doesn't like mud, cold and rain. My sister-in-law's West Highland Terrier LOVES mud and she needs to be washed constantly. She prefers to dig the yard than spend time inside the house with her hu-family.

Jeanne, thanks for the compliments! Looks like the siblings share the dislike for rain and cold.

Amy, Benji too was confused by the rain. He kept looking at the sky. We got him in February and his antics to avoid going on the wet surfaces then were quite funny. I think, like Biscuit, he too had forgotten about the rain, wind and cold. He was shivering when he got back doing his business. He loved it when I blowdried him and wrapped him in a warm towel

Michele, we are already back to our usual lovely weather. I hope your son has a lovely time in charming San Francisco.

Best, Poornima

Argh, Scout had a different reaction to the light rain. He poked his head out the dog door, came back in and then surreptitiously peed on the small rug I have by the door. Grrrrr.

The amazing thing was that the rug "held it" without absorbing a drop until I was able to clean it up!

Maybe because Dora is used to it, the rain down here was pretty heavy for the area but she was bummed it rained all day. We have a front porch and she would go out and just watch it and then come back in. I think I heard her sing "Rain, rain go away, Dora Neezer wants to go out and play!"
