Introduction

Hi Everyone! I've been lurking around for a while so thought it was a good time to make an introduction. This is Adriana (we just call her Adri (pronounced Audrey)! She is a Starborn pup and is from the most recent Posh and Razzle Litter. She just hit her 6 months. The picture below is of her around 3 months. She is adorable but a demanding little barker. haha Pam warned me about this but I still had to have her since she was just adorbs!!

I've just been feeing her Puppy Organix. Was wondering what everyone else feeds their havs. When do people usually move on from puppy to adult food?

Also, Adri smells really good even weeks after her bath but she does have really bad breath. I saw the C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews for Petite Dogs on amazon and was wondering if anyone's tried it. Please let me know. Thanks!

I would like to know what causes bad breath too? Jack's breath is terrible still.....I have resorted to some type of dental chews that smell good. Both the boys love them. So, once a day or every 2-3 days and we are good.

Welcome to the forum! My boys are Dexter (black & white) my heart dog. And, Jack my trouble maker that keeps me on my toes! When I was feeding my boys, I tried all kinds of foods because that is just me, I figured they would get bored eating the same thing all the time.

There is a site called dog food analysis on the web. Change foods slowly over a week, so you pup gets used to the food and does not create tummy upsets.

Again welcome to the forum and we like lots of pictures too.

Welcome, Adri is adorable!

When Piper was loosing her baby teeth, her breath could knock you out. I tried everything available and nothing made much of a difference. I think you just have to wait till it's over.

Hi! I am new here as well I wont get mine till 8 weeks from now, so i will be asking you for advice! I do feed my himalayan rescue kitties AvoDerm grain free canned, Innova prime grain free dry, and Wellness canned for variety. Those are all great brands of dog food as well. I tried Blue Buffalo with my Dogue de Bordeaux Daisi when i first got her at 15 months, it made her sick to her tummy no matter how gradually i made the switch. She now eats Innova. I was actually wanting to look into preparing fresh food for my pup, need to research! Welcome!

Kodi says, "Welcome to the forum, little sister!"

Kodi was BAD about demand barking when he was a youngster too. Just make sure you TOTALLY ignore the demand barking. It's not a quick fix, but if you are consistent, they do grow out of it. If you give in... they'll train you FAST!!!

Kodi eats Natural Balance Organic now that he is an adult, but there are many good foods. Pick one that you like, and stick with it for a while. We switched Kodi to adult food at just about 1 year. That said, most of the better brands of dog food are fine, even for puppies. Many even say "for all life stages" or something like that.

I wuld say ABSOLUTELY NO to dental chews. We had a horrible experience with Kodi having a partial obstruction from a supposedly "safe" dental chew. He was hospitalized for several days, and the bill was higher than his purchase price! (to say nothing of our worry and his discomfort!) The vets at the University vet hospital told me the dental chews are the NUMBER ONE reason for obstructions that they see. The dog bites off and swallows too large a piece, and it doesn't break down and digest properly, causing obstruction.

Most likely, Adri's bad breath is the last bit of teething. But you should be brushing her teeth regularly, and this will help a lot, through her entire life. There is a product named Petzyme that comes in gel and spray form that you can put on their teeth, and is supposed to break down tartar, as well as freshen breath. The problem for us was that Kodi hated the taste. Just brushing his teeth regularly seems to keep his mouth smelling fresh and clean.

Oh, wanted to add that I had the pleasure of meeting (and playing with!) your little girl, plus the rest of the two litters the Kings had last fall. She is adorable, and you are lucky to have her! (as I'm sure you know!!!)
