OMG I am adopting a Havanese dog (2 years old)

I have never had a dog before, but have decided this is the dog I want.. Do any of you have any advice for me. Literally, I don't even know what to feed them. Do they like going on long walks? How long till this little one will feel at home in our house? Will she love me like she did her previous owner who has had her since she was a puppy? I am so excited to be adopting this little girl but I am scared too. Please Help put my mind at ease. Thank you!

Congratulations!!! You are doing a beautiful thing for this dog who needs you.

Piper was my first dog so I know how you feel. How long until she comes home? Is she housebroken? Do you know what she is currently being fed?

Don't worry about her loving you, she will. I recently adopted Riley who was a little over a year old. He was nervous the first few days but within a month I think he was fully adjusted to living with us. It took him a few days to want to sit on my lap and there were definitely some adjustment issues. We are now at two months and I know he feels this is home and is very happy. He is curled up next to me right now

Welcome to the forum. Yes your Havanese will love you as much as her previous owner. They are very social and love to be around people. The food you want to give a higher quality dog food like Blue Buffalo or Wellness. They have food that is specifically for smaller dogs. It will say small bites or for toy dogs on the bag.
My dog loves to go for long walks and especially loves chasing her stuffed donkey. You are going to be fine. Trust your self and be sure to share pics.

Feed your new baby the same food she has been eating, make sure it is a well balanced good food, if not introduce her to the new food slowly......

Tell us the story, there is always a story to a 2 year old Hav adoption. Did she go on walks before? Find out as much information as you can because dogs love routine, they know what to expect. She will love you, give her time to adjust and adapt, try not to smother her, let her explore her new surroundings. Keep us informed.
