Can you get that food mail order? With all the changes the dog is going thru it would be good to keep the same food for at least a little while. She's a beauty, I'm jealous!

I was also told by her breeder that she eats Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul dry dog food. Does anyone know similiar dog foods that I can get at more locations like Petsmart and Petco. The dog food recommended is really difficult to find. Here is a pic of the sweet havanese! Can't wait til mid to late March. She is getting all her shots and her spay this Thursday. Crossing my fingers that everything goes well.
I had seen that food at pet depot. Did you check to make sure where it could be available in your area? Sometime smaller pet stores will also have foods stocked just for a customer. There are also plenty of other good dry dog foods also. She is a beauty by the way. Maybe you could try to name her something close to what she is used to being called if that is possible. It will be easier for her to adjust I would think since she is older.

I will check the pet depot tomorrow that is located pretty close to me. Her name now is Star so Sugar sounds pretty close to her name. She is a very pretty color. I also love coffee so mocha and sugar are my favorites so far

She's beautiful. I like Rita's idea about mail ordering - that's what I did with Ceylon's last bag of dog food. You have to remember also that havs don't eat very much, since they're so small! So even the expensive foods last a very long time compared to other dogs.

There's tons of information on this forum and elsewhere about food choices. Wet is better than dry, and homemade is better than wet, but if you feed dry kibble (as I do), just make sure to pick a quality one with the right amount of protein for your dog. I feed Ceylon grain-free, high-protein Canidae, but some dogs have problems with high-protein. Whatever you do, don't get a big bag of something different to begin with, until you're sure she will be ok with it - then you can invest in a big bag, which will probably last months or more .

I like the name Mocha, she looks mocha to me!

I love the name Mocha! I know sometimes switching dog foods causes diarrhea but if I mix a lil bit at a time it will be ok for her stomach. How much and how often do you feed your hav? Thank you all for your help

That's kind of funny that you are thinking of naming her Mocha because you love coffee and her current name is Star.. It made me think Starbucks! Obviously she is meant for you..lol..

Congratulations! She is beautiul and she looks like a happy girl. My Riley was over a year old when I got him and his name was changed with no problems at all.

There is a website chewy.com that sells most of the premium dog foods at very competitve pricing, free shipping and it arrives in one day! I have been very impressed with them.

I feed 1/4 cup 2x a day.
