Hobbes

My little puppy mill rescue is doing great. He will play with select people. He doesn't like other people besides me petting him, but he is now brave enough to go up and smell and interact with almost anyone.

He graduated basic obedience on Saturday. He was probably the second best in class and the first is a repeater!

We are starting work with a private trainer (my schedule is going to be a bit more sporadic this coming months, I didn't want to commit to a class I couldn't always make) on Monday.

His hair is growing like a weed. He is getting pretty big. I'm not sure the age estimate we got on him was anywhere near correct. He was supposed to be around 8 months in late November, but he has gained almost four pounds (he was severely malnourished so that's not surprising) but he has also gotten significantly taller. Almost a year seems old to be getting taller for a small breed doesn't it? He weighs about 12 pounds now and the vet says he's at a great body weight (ie, not too heavy).

We still struggle with separation anxiety, but we manage and it's mildly improving. It's our biggest issue, but 100X better than at first.

Just bragging a bit!

Sounds great. Tell other people to ignore him, and let him approach them when he's ready.

Look whose hair is now long enough for a top knot! I just used one of my hair elastics to see if it was long enough; he took it out for me soon enough. I need to get the much smaller sized elastics. If he was a girl, I'd love to do a pretty bow.

He is actually probably getting a hair cut soon. Even though he's cuter with longer hair, he is matting like crazy even with daily brushing. I don't necessarily want to have to brush him daily I think I'll try to stick it out until the weather gets longer.

Adorable! Congrats on graduation! Did you get him something special after? We got Bama an antler.
12 pounds sounds good. Although I've heard of a hav once over 30. Is he 100% hav or a mix? Not that it matters, of course. Bama is hav-pom which is why she is only 6 pounds at 10 months.

He's supposedly pure Hav. He looks like he is and he displays most of the behavior traits people on the form talk about, but he doesn't have papers or anything so we'll never know for 100% certain.
