Flowers

I know many of you like to garden while I like to pretend like I know what I am doing.

Last year I bought this plant called blue indigo that I fell in love with, I was very please this year when it came up and bloomed. Well I was just out in the garden cutting things down for the winter and noticed all these pea pod shaped things on my plant. When I cut one off it rattled so I opened the pod and found lots & lots of seeds. My question is are these seeds any good where they have dried out over the summer?
I'm not very good at starting a plant from a seed but figured it was worth a try. Also I have so many of them if they are good and any one wants some free seeds send me a PM or e-mail I would be more than happy to share.

Wow! Leeann, you planted that just last year? it is huge. I had thought indigo was slow growing. Sorry I can't help you about seeds-- but I'm impressed with your green thumb.

Marie got your message thank you.

Missy green thumb I wish, I somehow mange to kill everything, I have spent thousands in killing plants. But I keep trying and if it makes it till the next year that meens its got to be a hardy plant and nothing to do with me.

Wow Leann, that's beautiful. I wonder if it would grow in my area. Is it pet friendly (ie non-toxic)?

This is my hibiscus - when DH's grandmother moved from her home to assisted living - I transplanted to my yard - separated 3 plants into 7, they were at her home for 50 yrs. and been at mine for 10 more yrs.

Sissy loves flowers. She just smells and never licks, eats, etc.

Here are some links about toxic garden plants - you have to scroll down a little bit.

http://www.onlinediscountmart.com/th...ly-garden.html

this link does say

After ingesting hibiscus, a dog will vomit persistently, may vomit blood and have bloody diarrhea. "The loss of body fluid may be severe enough to be lethal in some cases," Dr. Buck cautions.

Like I said Sissy does not bother the flowers - so I am not worried. But wanted to pass this info along.

On this link for the blue indigo it says that:

No poisonings of people or pets have been recorded.

We are in the midst of landscaping our back yard and are trying to make it totally pet friendly, so we are on the lookout for plants that are non-toxic because the girls DO eat flowers.
