Yikes! Fleas! Help!

Well my little love Milo brought me a gift I've never had before. When I brought him to the groomer a few days ago she told me she found a few fleas on him. She gave him a flea bath and I ran to the vet to get Frontline which I applied the next day. I asked for something to spray in my house but the girls in the vet's office said I didn't need it since the host would be gone. Wrong!

I find myself chewed up and itching like crazy. What do I do now to get rid of these creatures? Help!

They make a flea powder that you can sprinkle on carpets, dog beds etc.Be sure to follow directions. This is available anywhere, like Walmart etc. There are also flea bombs that you can set off (like a fogger),and be sure to follow those directions closely.....I have used both at the same time...but remove open food and any pets during this process--it's in the directions...but then you need to air-out your place so it safe to return for you and Milo.It has been quite a few years ago since we had them...but it was a nightmare! When I used both though--it took care of it.

Geri, We had that same problem years ago when we had cats. They must have picked them up at the vets as they were indoor cats, but the house became infested. We hired an exterminator to bomb the house, while at te same time we took the cats to the vets for a flea dip and then hug out for a while till the bomb did its job! It is such an icky feeling to know that they are in your house!! We hired someone as they guarantee that they get rid of them. One week later i thought I saw one, so called them and they came back and did a second bombing for free. Never had fleas again! Good luck.

Geri: I'm going thru the same thing! And just when I thought I got rid of the biggest pest in my life! (thru divorce..LOL). I am going to the vet to pick up Shaw (he got fixed yesterday, and is doing fine!) and am getting some meds for the fleas, and am doing the bug bomb thing as well. I have flea bites, but I still can't stop holding my furries, it's not their fault!!! They got them from outside somewhere. I'll get rid of them, it's not like my house is dirty! I know, they give you the heeby-geebies, but I think almost everyone has been thru it or will at one point in their pet's lives. I just want them gone, cuz they make my pups miserable

Oh yes--I forgot to tell you---if you use that sprinkle powder--after you vacuum it up--make sure you empty out your vacuum cleaner OUTSIDE!I didn't empty out mine the first time and :duh: they hatched and re-infested.We had an indoor/outdoor cat that got the fleas and they came in on our first sheltie.Oh Lord--what a mess they can be!The one thing is,you do learn to be very prompt about frontline or advantix etc.

BOMB the house and bathe animals and use the frontline but make sure you bomb the house after 10 days you should do it 3 time every 10 days that way it get the flea eggs after they hatch . and you should get the spray for your yard too. Do you have any stray cats in your yard that will bring them in your yard which inturn will jump on your pets or even people then they are in your house again so do at least 3 treatments for spraying and the bombing you should be fine after that. I hope this helps you can get the flea spray at like pet co it is a little costly for the yards but it does work.

My two are on Sentinel and Frontline Plus once a month. Talk about expensive...Frontline Plus one month supply for cats and dogs - $98.00. But, that's better than being eaten alive by those little buggers.

Because of this very unusual weather, the fleas are having a field day. I found one on Kodi the other day, but no flea dirt or any other fleas. The problem is that the flea bites cause an allergic reaction and the dogs are constantly itching. I know how irritating it is, because last month I had bites all over me. We didn't bomb the house, because we realized it was just because they were sleeping with us. So everything came off the bed, washed, vacuumed the mattress, pillows, anything we could think of. Thank goodness it worked.

Good luck, Geri. If Milo is scratching alot, ask the vet about Benadryl.
