My puppy amazes me once again

OK, so this is a LITTLE gross, but...

Kodi was outside earlier, and it has been warm enough that some of the snow has melted off, and there is actually some grass growing here and there (as well as my crocuses, which are all up on the south sides of the buildings!!!) So Kodi went into his little Holstein cow routine, eating grass. Then we went back inside and he fell asleep on the couch in my office while I worked.

All of a sudden he leaped off the couch and bolted into the kitchen, and I heard him getting into his litter box. I followed to see what was going on, just in time to see him barf up all his grass. Now, how did he get the idea to throw up in the litter box? That's certainly not anything we've ever taught him! Good boy, Kodi!

That is awesome, Karen. I think he deserves a ribbon AND a new toy as a reward?! Smart boy!

But....what is it with this grass eating. We had a beautiful weekend and took the boys out. I would have thought they would have wanted to run and play. Nope - eat grass is about all they were interested in!

Years ago, Twinkle jumped into the bathtub to throw up once. She had never jumped into the tub before. That was before we started with litter boxes. Kodi is line-bred on Twinkle.

I thank my lucky stars that for puking and when my pup had horrible diarrhea and exhausting my ability to take him out at all hours, he chooses the hardwood and never the carpet. Not so fancy as a litterbox or tub, but considering he's outdoor only I will take it.

Animals are so smart.
I had a cat who, at the end of her life, layed herself in the litterbox, letting me know it was time.

How considerate of him! Mine thinks leaning his head over the edge of the couch or the bed to do it is helpful (or at work he leans his head out of his crate...you know so he doesn't get it on HIS blankets!!). Thankfully he isn't much of a puker.
