Misty- coat has grown out!

I posted some pictures of Misty in September. I had just adopted her and was wondering if she might have Havanese in her. She seems to be some type of a Havanese cross- maybe?

She had to be shaved when she came to the shelter, but her coat has now grown out and although she is due for a bath, I wanted to post some new pictures of her now. She has beautiful coat, very cottony like in texture, and I am going to try to keep her on the long side, because it is such a beautiful coat and she is very good for grooming. She is a total sweetheart in general....she loves to shred paper, also loves to shred underwear (not quite as funny!)...but I just loooove this little girl!

So- just wanted to update on Misty's progress!

Misty is adorable. She looks very nice in her long coat. Glad you're going to keep her that way.

Thanks everyone for your input!

With the long coat, I agree, she does look at lot more hav. She has a thickness through the top of her head that is not havanese though...but she could just not be a well- bred havanese. I really have no idea- am no expert!

She was surrendered twice to a high kill shelter before she was a year old- if you saw pics of her before she was shaved-it wasn't pretty. She was in a bad place. So- if she is pure- bred... highly likely she did not come from a reputable breeder. But, she could be be from a BYB or puppy mill....If I could guess, some kind of a pet store pup , or Walmart parking lot impulse purchase. The second time she was surrendered to the shelter, the reason was "she is too much." What on earth that means, who knows???

Too much love...too much sweetness...that's Misty. She is a wonderful dog- which is amazing given the circumstances. Other than having to work a little on housebreaking, and typical adolescent dog things, which was minimal, she walked in here like she lived here all her life. She is a very calm, confident dog. I've had 25+ fosters..and she is the only one I could not let go. She is very special.

Now- I just have to figure out how to keep her in a long coat! I love the way she looks now...I think I'm going to try a butter comb, as using a metal comb is the only way I can keep up with the mats!

What an adorable face... she is so lucky to have found such a loving owner! Her personality certainly sounds like a Hav to me! Looking forward to seeing how growing that coat out does for you. Keep us updated with pictures!
