Thanks everyone for your input!
With the long coat, I agree, she does look at lot more hav. She has a thickness through the top of her head that is not havanese though...but she could just not be a well- bred havanese. I really have no idea- am no expert!
She was surrendered twice to a high kill shelter before she was a year old- if you saw pics of her before she was shaved-it wasn't pretty. She was in a bad place. So- if she is pure- bred... highly likely she did not come from a reputable breeder. But, she could be be from a BYB or puppy mill....If I could guess, some kind of a pet store pup , or Walmart parking lot impulse purchase. The second time she was surrendered to the shelter, the reason was "she is too much." What on earth that means, who knows???
Too much love...too much sweetness...that's Misty. She is a wonderful dog- which is amazing given the circumstances. Other than having to work a little on housebreaking, and typical adolescent dog things, which was minimal, she walked in here like she lived here all her life. She is a very calm, confident dog. I've had 25+ fosters..and she is the only one I could not let go. She is very special.
Now- I just have to figure out how to keep her in a long coat! I love the way she looks now...I think I'm going to try a butter comb, as using a metal comb is the only way I can keep up with the mats!
