HOW COLD!

This email was forwarded to me. This just makes me sick!

Susan,
My Aunt just called me and told me of a Maltese dog (3 or 4 years old) in Neptune, NJ who desperately needs a home. The dogs owners had a baby and now can't take care of this dog, but there is nothing wrong with this dog. The dog is free, but if nobody takes it, they are going to put it to sleep! I am unable to take in another animal as I already have two dogs. PLEASE help this poor and defensive animal find a stable and loving home. Thank you ever so much. Angel

This is so sad. Just a thought.. perhaps your aunt can find a Maltese rescue or local club to get help for placement. Hope the furbaby finds a loving home forever! All good thoughts and love sending his way.

Best, Poornima

Oh, it's not my Aunt. This was just a mass emailing. It's just deeply disturbing that someone could just throw away a dog like that. There are other choices than putting the dog to sleep.

We had a friend that is a vet. He switched over to teaching at LSU because he couldn't take putting down healthy dogs.

I just can't see having a pet and then putting it down just because you had a baby and can't find it a home. There are rescues for crying out loud. This is a life, not an old pair of shoes.

Unfortunately a lot of people get a dog like an acessory as my friend Virginie says . Arm candy something that looks good and you attract attention .. That is why i get so upset when i see Paris and Britney get another dog . if she surrenders her children early I can only imagine what she did to her dogs ..
People do not realize what a responsibility dogs and cats are . Our vet constantly has an animal that has been surrended that she is trying to find a home for ..
That is why i am in favor of neutering as there are so many unwanted animals out there already and here is a designer dog that just isn't as cute as the baby ..
I wonder if family services are next for the baby .. You are right - it is sad ..

That's just horrible. I remember a Christmas poem about a dog bought as a gift for the kids and the final refrain is "You weren't given a gift, you were given a LIFE."

That is just awful...I could not imagine just putting my dogs down because of a new baby...they had plenty of time to prepare....that is soo sad.

Yes, too many people buy dogs for the wrong reasons. My sister asked me to look for a havanese for her family. She has 3 kids. I was all excited, a new pup!!! After sleeping on it, I called her to screen and interview her. I then told her, I didn't think she was ready for a pup. She was pretty horrified.

My other sister asked if she could have one of Scudders pups if he was ever bred. I told her he probably wouldn't be bred, but even if he was, "NO". I feel she doesn't spoil her dogs enough. They are just dogs to her. She was pretty blown away.

They still talk to me. LOL
