Atticus, therapy dog at 8 weeks turns TWO!
Atticus is two today! We got him at 8 weeks in May 2011 to cheer us up, as my partner, Christine, had been diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), a progressive, terminal, illness. She died at home, with him on her bed this past June 2012.We were together 14 years and have had many big dogs but wanted a small dog that could easily get up on her lap & bed. She has always had older rescues and really wanted a true puppy. Needles to say I was concerned about taking care of her and having a young pup but I couldn't have gotten through this time without our wonderful Atticus. He has brought joy, laughter, and cuddles to both of our lives and is now my ROCK. I thought I'd share some pictures of him with Christine. I have debated whether to share my personal story in such a public way but it is really about Atticus. In two short years he has brought unimaginable love and comfort to our home in a time of great sadness. So Happy Birthday my little boy,you are certainly My Therapy dog (I plan to get him certified and do Hospice therapy visits in the future) Thanks for letting me share the story of my sweet Atticus and the joy he has brought to us both. I also want to thank this Forum which has helped to keep me distracted, entertained, and connected these past 2 difficult years!
