Drama Queen

Well, it has been a very long week around here. I just need a place to vent . Of course, it is Spring Break. As a Guidance Counselor who is off for the week, you would think I would be thrilled. Not so much. We have had a full house of dogs. They were all great dogs (well, mostly) but it was still a lot of work. We have 2 adorable 10 month old havanese puppies staying with us. Of course, they start barking during the night if they hear any of the other dogs. I solved this by moving them to our room (they sleep in the kitchen in their crates at their house so I had tried that first). Of course, they work up twice during the night last night for no real reason. They are so cute, they can get away with almost anything. Anyway, we also had a 16 1/2 year old one eyed shih tzu with a torn ACL that was never repaired. She has a hard time getting around and doesn't see very well. She has stayed with us before, but not for a few years. We ended up needing diapers for her as she would be outside forever and then come inside and pee a puddle. She also got up every night in the middle of the night and pooped in her bed. Anyway, this is just an idea of the week.

What I really needed to share is how much of a big baby/drama queen my Brady is. I have always known this. My DH was in the back yard playing ball with the pups yesterday. Brady went running full speed after the ball and then started screaming bloody murder. I ran out from inside and found my DH carrying him through the yard. He was holding his left front leg out to the side and screamed when we tried to touch it. He was whimpering and crying and looked so sad. Of course, I panicked. I scooped him up and took him over to the vet. He was so sad! They took him back to do x-rays. I could hear him screaming from the lobby. The vet tech came out and I asked if he was okay. She said he was great for the x-ray and started screaming as soon as she put him in the crate. Yep, that is my boy. He is a cry baby! They carried him back out to me and we went back to the exam room. She put him on the ground and he pranced right over to me with his tail wagging on all 4s! Now, Brady is known to exaggerate injuries from time to time. But, he really got us this time. I know he was hurt, but I think he milked it a bit. Of course, he couldn't decide to walk before the $160 x-rays! He is acting totally fine now and is just on some meds for swelling just in case. Yep, he is a totally drama queen!!! Don't even think I could call him a drama king since I am not sure he is tough enough to be classified in that category.

Through it all, my Dad has been in the hospital since Friday. They are still trying to figure out what is going on with him. He has been sick for a few weeks and woke up on Friday and had a 102 fever and was very sick. By Friday evening, we had to call and ambulance for him. They think he has some sort of an infection, but haven't figured out what yet. So, please keep my Mom and Dad in your prayers. I have been running back and forth to the hospital and trying to keep my very worried Mom sane.

Thanks for being the place that I can come to vent. Here is a nice picture of my poor "injured" boy and the 2 adorable, yet naughty, havanese puppies we are watching. And, a few others for fun!

And Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

You have my prayers for your Mom and Dad. How about the Drama Prince? Makes a good pairing with Princess Cassie.

Prayers for your Dad!

As far as Brady is concerned, do dogs ever have joints become dislocated? I know my son dislocated his shoulder skiing. It was EXTREMELY painful!!! Fortunately, one of the scoutmasters on the trip was a doc, examined him, found that he had dislocated his shoulder, and popped it back in. As soon as it was back in place, the pain went away. The way you said Brady's leg was sticking out made me think of that incident!

Positive thoughts for your dad, I know how hard it is when you have a sick parent. I hope your mom is fairing okay as well.
Now I know what you meant by having a full house, busy!!!! I love all the faces at the door. Timmy had a GREAT time at Linda's, not so sure about poor Freddie who seemed to be Timmy's obsession!
Drama Queen's must be a Woodland's trait, because Timmy is right there with Brady. Glad to hear he's okay, that must have been scary!

Thank you all for your kind words. I just needed somewhere to whine and complain for a minute or two . I wondered if Brady could have had his shoulder out of place and the placement during the x-ray knocked it back into place. I am going to say that to make myself feel better for the $300 vet visit. This morning, he was out back jumping and barking at me trying to get me to throw the ball. I am continuing to try to explain to him that he needs to take it easy. He isn't buying into it. Glad Timmy did well with Linda. I spoke to her a few times and she said he was having fun!

Hope the doctors figure out what is going on with your Dad and that he is soon on the mend.

Cute pictures - love the one with them all at the door. Wow, does sound like your hands are full!

Funny about Brady being a drama king. - I have one of those. But if it was a dislocated shoulder, they are extremely uncomfortable, in humans at least, as Karen stated. I got my first one in a horse accident when I was 17 and then recurrent ones until I underwent surgery to repair it. The dislocation is most unpleasant - the memory makes me cringe even after all these years, and the grating when it is put back in place.....ugh, ugh!

This really falls in the category of when it rains it pours... Karen, I will keep your dad and family in my thoughts. If they still come up blank on your dads dx...please ask them to consider Lyme and other tick borne diseases. Not everyone gets the bulls eye rash. But you guys are in a prime location to consider it. Oh, and a person doesn't test positive until 2-4 weeks after a bite... But if you think your dad could have been bit (gardening, hiking, playing with the dogs) it may be worth doing a 4-6 week course of azythromycin as a precaution, cause a recent infection is a lot easier to eliminate than one that has had time to borough down.

And as for your drama queen... We have one too... We call Jasper "the prince." and boy does he milk it. Give Brady a hug from us.
