Petedge - no bull rawhide chews anyone?

I got a couple of those with my last order and Marley just about inhaled the first one I gave him. I didn't find any product info so I called to ask and they said that they are US made....any other thoughts on these? I am trying to find special treats for him when we have to leave him. He will never like us leaving, so at least I try to make something fun come with us taking off...

Alexa, do they have a smokey type of smell to them?

I bought some Flossies for Piaget when we were in Denver because he was teething and needed something to occupy his time with me in seminars and they were so perfect for him. I had a Pet Edge order going in when I got home, so I got some of their chews that look similar to a Flossie and was disappointed in what arrived. They didn't have any product info and had a smokey smell to them. I was too leary to give them to my dogs for a few reasons - no packaging to read and they seemed like they may stain the faces of my dogs with the dark coloring/flavoring on them.

I haven't heard anything bad from anyone else, but... without any positive information, I'm reluctant to give them to my dogs.

Alexa,

Not sure about the raw hides chews, but the owner of the store I get Beamer food from says that rawhide are not the greatest thing to give.. So I dont bother with them anymore. He prefers flossies anyways and other assorted chew type things..

But what I have noticed is that he will not touch a chew while we are out. He will only chew on them when we are with him. Weird eh? Does Marley care if your with or not when chewing?? hehe

Hmmm..doesn't smell too smokey to me, but that is when it's dry...I'll have to get a whiff off Marley when he eats the other one....

The no info part is what I didn't care for...and the lady in customer service had to check with their supervisor first to give me the Made in US answer....

And Ryan, funny that you mention it...he doesn't seem to do much of anything while we're gone....he is not a fussy eater by any means of the imagination, but the chews that I have left with him seem to remain untouched.

I'll try to get some more of the sterilized bones with the peanut butter natural filling...he loved that one and I'll be able to see if the filling is gone or not when I leave him..

Ryan, Kubrick never touches a chew while he's alone. He will only chew when we are in the house with him. Silly dog.

Beamer will go absolutly mental when we get home, and after he is done dancing around our legs he will RUN for a chew and chew the crap out of it for like 30 mins..lol..

Ryan, it looks like Beamer and Kubrick are twins. Except that Kubrick will act mental, pee, and then go for his chew.

Alexa,
I don't have any input for you question directly, but I have a recommendation for the product I buy at Trader Joe's. It' called Pig in a blanket. It is human grade pork and cowhide. It is made in the US by Canine cattle company. The best part is that it is odorless. Benji loves it and now Lizie is enjoying it too. Benji likes to chew on Pearly Whites as well.

Best, Poornima

I love Trader Joe's...I'll have to check those out next time I'm there.

We just came back from the Homecoming Football game (we won - yeah!) and I had left Marley with a Flossie. He didn't touch it. Now he is sitting downstairs - by himself (never happens) and is lovin' it....so definitely another one of the non chewers when by himselfers <g>
