Henry's Work-Out Video

A friend taught Henry to go on the treadmill this week on a rainy day when taking a walk outside was not an option. I can't tell whether he likes it or not. Do you think he looks happy or nervous?

He's doing a lot of lip licking and looking away, which are avoidance behaviors. But it's hard to say whether that's about the treadmill or the camera. (a LOT of dogs don't like cameras pointed at them)

In any case, he doesn't look traumatized or anything. If it's something you want to do with him semi-regularly, I'd just keep sessions short to start with, and use LOTS of positive reinforcement with praise AND yummy treats. My guess is that as he gets used to it, he'll probably settle right down.

He sure is cute!

BTW, the exercise ball is GREAT for Havanese with their longer backs. It really helps them develop and maintain core strength.

Loved Henry's workout video. I'm sure he was a little apprehensive as it was something new to him, but I didn't feel that he looked excessively nervous. He didn't seem to be drooling or trembling, although I suppose you wouldn't notice trembling as he was walking. Cute stuff anyway and I enjoyed it.

Wow that looks like a good work out. Can you show a picture where the leash is hooked to please. I want to see if mine like that type of thing. How did your friend teach him?
