Is my little girl gonna be a big one?

Pippi is almost 6 months old and weighs 10 pounds already. I don't have any genetic information on her parents so I'm wondering if she is considered a large female? She isn't fat, can feel her ribs just fine. What are your experienced thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

Well, she certainly isn't going to be a dainty 7 pounder! But it is kind of hard to tell until they actually quit growing. Helpful, yes? Some grow very quickly and some grow more slowly. The rate Finn was growing, I was afraid he might approach 20 lbs. I think he was around 9 lbs. at 4-5 months. But he is a bit over 2 now and has been just over 14 lbs. for quite some time now.

wondering the same thing.

Mikey is 8 1/2 lbs at 3 month. That seems big. Vet said he could be anywhere between 15-20 lbs. Wow, that's big for a Hav. my first guy maxed out at 11 pounds.

What are the weights of you guys havaneses?

Yeah, that sounds big. Kodi was 6 lbs at 3 months, and as an adult is 16.5 lbs. (and slim and muscular)

As long as you're not planning on the conformation ring, though, it really doesn't matter. i knew Kodi would be larger, and chose him anyway, based on his personality/disposition. But I was looking for a performance dog, not a conformation ring dog. He has certainly lived up to my expectations and then some!

Well I'm definitely just in it for the love of my Havi girl! I don't care if she weighs 25 lbs! I like hearing of everyone else's babies and how big they are! Pippi so a joy to have in our family.

Emmie is smaller than her parents (dam 10 lbs & sire 13 lbs) and littermates. Here's her weight progression since I got her:

3 months - 4 lbs
6 months - 6 lbs
8 months - 7 lbs
11 months - 8 lbs
15 months - 8 lbs

Pippi is very cute - love the bows!

Indy wouldn't cooperate at the vet when we took him at 4 months but he's right around 8 to 10(!!!) pounds. How accurate is the "double at 4 months" rule? We knew he wasn't going to be a little guy as he was nearly double the smallest littermate. Yea for not being a show dog?

** I was curious so I brought out the kitchen scale. It maxes out between 10 and 11lbs and at 4 1/2 months - Indy is over that weight limit. He's a tank!

I'm not going to show Mikey either. Just love him
His dad is 11 1/2 lbs and his mom is 14 lbs so he's going to be even bigger than his mom, I think. The grandparents, the breeder said, which she doubts now, were all under 10 lbs.

Anyway, it doesn't matter if he turns out to be a healthy 20 lbs. Just more of him to love :-)

Anyone else have a big un?

our new little one is 12 weeks and weighs 3.4! I was wondering the same about her! I don't remember my other three at her age but now my others are:

Higgins- 3yrs-11
Darcy- 3yrs- 12
Gidget- 1 1/2 yrs- 14

I do remember that mine seemed to gain the most the first 6 months and then continued up until about one year but just a little the older they got. They have all stay about the same after they turned one I just hope our new little girl fits in nicely with them
