As much as I wish it wasn't true, winter is coming.
Last winter, Scout was a puppy and we totally coddled him -- his cute little paws never touched that cold, wet snow. But, I don't think we will be able to do that this winter.
I just noticed a new product in the Orvis catalog -- a Paw Deicer. It is described as a veterinarian-approved, nontoxic spray that protects dogs’ feet from painful ice balls between the pads and from the stinging, drying damage of road salts" and as "an all-natural, lick-safe blend of purcellin oil, sunflower oil, and lanolin that lasts about 45 minutes when applied." It says that it also can be applied to the legs and belly of small dogs to prevent snow and ice from caking in their fur.
Has anyone tried this product? What do you think about it? Can anyone think of any downside to trying a product like this?
