How's Emmie doing?

Jeanne, have you gotten all of the test results yet? Any diagnosis? Or just a mystery disease? How she's feeling now? We need an update!

I apologize for not responding sooner about how Emmie's doing. On Monday I found out the urinalysis came back negative but the first part of the bile acid test was below normal and the second part (after being fed) was normal. So the results are inconclusive; therefore, the specialists may redo some of the tests again as the ones done last week happened at her vet’s office. I will find out next steps tomorrow. It’s a conundrum; should I spend more money on tests or just assume everything’s fine and do nothing for the time being? The good news is that Emmie seems almost back to normal. Her appetite is better, some of the odd behavior issues (e.g. staring, circling, head-pressing) have abated, she doesn't seem as lethargic, and this morning was the first time in 2.5 weeks she was full of energy and wanted to play with all of her toys and chase them for more than 1-2 minutes. But she’s still drinking excessively and peeing more than usual so we’ll see. The main reason I’m being extra cautious is that I’m going on vacation to Mexico in 2 weeks so I want to ensure she’s healthy before I leave.

Thanks for your support.

- Jeanne

Thanks for the update. Just like kids, they seem to get sick at the worst times! Not that any time is good, but right before leaving her to go on vacation. What a worry. And I hear you about the cost of all the tests. Gets pricey real fast. Trust your instincts. Just glad to hear she's returning to her playful self.

Or when you are ON vacation!!! Kodi came down with a stomach bug THE DAY we left on vacation last spring. Dealing with a white, long haired dog with diarrhea and a tummy ache in a travel trailer while traveling (and it rained all week!!!) was truly an experience I don't want to repeat. We, of course, didn't know any of the vets in the area, and it really didn't seem like an emergency. So I just kept him on boiled chicken and rice, and Pepcid, and double dosed his probiotics. Did LOTS of butt baths, and spent one night sleeping on the couch with him when he was really uncomfortable, so that Dave could get some sleep.

Fun, fun, fun!!!

I'm happy she's running around. I hope you pinpoint what the issue is.
